PitBull Unit Frames 4.0
PitBull Unit Frames 4.0
Woof. Arf. Yip.
Getting Started:
You can help translate PitBull for your language with the localization tool.
Classic
PitBull works with WoW Classic! Classic Era/Vanilla is supported in
v4.3.x-vanilla releases. Cataclysm Classic is supported in v4.2.x releases
(the same releases retail use).
Classic Era caveats:
- Aura duration is not available from the API, so PitBull uses LibClassicDurations to show them. The duration can be inaccurate if it's affected by rank or talents.
- Cast info is only available for your spells from the API. PitBull uses LibClassicCasterino to show cast bars for other units, but this can be inaccurate since there is a lot of guess-work involved.

Posted Jan 19, 2026I have to admit, I simply can't imagine a game without "PitBull." It's been an integral part of my UI for ages, and I can't imagine how I'm supposed to give it the visual feel I want.
I hope you find enough motivation to at least take a look at this mess.
Speaking of motivation: are there no more donation buttons on Curseforge? :)

I second this. I cannot imagine playing WOW Without Pitbull. Even if it loses many of its capabilities due to the new restrictions.

Posted Jan 18, 2026I was curious about hunter pet happiness icons. I don't see them in the unit frame in tbc anniversary. Am I missing something (maybe the wrong version)?

Posted Jan 19, 2026In reply to webfreek123: I noticed there was no pet happiness icon as well so I started fiddling around with the xml files and got it to work.
1. If you have played Anniversary Classic, go to this folder:
World of Warcraft\_classic_era\Interface\AddOns\PitBull4\Modules\
You should see a folder called HappinessIcon. Copy and paste that into your TBC pitbull4 modules folder so the structure is as follows:
World of Warcraft\_anniversary_\Interface\AddOns\PitBull4\Modules\HappinessIcon
- If you haven't played anniversary classic, just download the anniversary classic version of pitbull4 to any random folder and copy the HappinessIcon folder and paste it into TBC's _anniversary_\AddOns\PitBull4\Modules\.
2. In the main Pitbull4 directory, edit the modules_TBC.xml file by using notepad or something similar.
Add the following line between ExperienceBar and Healthbar:
<Include file="Modules\HappinessIcon\load.xml"/>
3. Save the file in plain text.
Pet happiness icon should be displayed on pet bar, check to make sure happiness icon module is enabled in your in-game pitbull4 config.

Magic! I thought I had tried something similar, but I gave up (maybe I copied in the wrong version). Followed this step and seems to have worked like a charm!
Thank you :)

Posted Jan 15, 2026In reply to Ithylz: I'll take a look this weekend, but it'll take a major rework to work in Midnight. I'm hoping I can simplify the base unit frame creation code and reuse the existing module stuff, but we'll see

I second this. I have been playing with PitBull4 since, oh man, either WOTLK or right after. I used to raid with Shefki and cannot imagine playing the game without it.

Posted Jan 15, 2026Fix for TBC Classic:
Step 1 - Delete the existing Pitbull folder in "_anniversary_\Interface\AddOns"
Step 2 - Download the mop classic version, copy it into "_anniversary_\Interface\AddOns" and then rename PitBull4_Cata.toc inside the pitbull folder to PitBull4.toc

Posted Jan 14, 2026I currently use this addon for my unit frames (character, targets, and target of targets) for WoW Classic Anniversary. It's currently broke on the WoW TBCC Anniversary edition. I just get my portrait in the default frame, and I can't get a target portrait frame period. I guess the versions are off, as the latest version is from 2023, and is Ver 2.5.4 and the version the game runs on is 2.5.5. I guess it just needs a simple update, but I'm no programmer. Hopefully it'll be back, because I've used this addon for over a decade now, and I couldn't see going with anything else.

Posted Dec 20, 2025So I recently lost my WTF so I was re-doing my PB layout from scratch in retail. For some reason, nothing seems to hide the player pet frames. Am I missing something here?

Posted Dec 12, 2025Is there a way to add a shadow or outline to text? It would greatly increase readability.
Found it. Just add "Outline()" in the first line of the lua code of the layout text.

Posted Oct 30, 2025In reply to Phar: Blizzard is still working on adding back functionality so addons can atleast do what the default ui can. I haven't tried updating anything yet, I'll probably wait to see what's still missing closing to launch
