Skada Damage Meter
Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.
"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".
Note: I took a tiny break from WoW (a decade), but recently started playing SoD. Be aware that this addon may not quite work yet.
Usage
When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.
Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.
In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.
You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.
Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.
Plugins
Skada is easy to extend, and there were once many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality. However, there are unlikely to be any maintained ones currently.
There is a page with API information here.

For now use comments.
I also have a problem with "when to show" preferences. When option "Hide in combat" is selected and BEFORE combat SKADA was hidden - after combat it is shown instead of previous state. I think it's not right. If it's was hidden BEFORE combat it shouldn't popup after...
On healing done. what does the green and the red stand for?
Green = healing done
Red = overhealing?
How to show players' realm names when they're not from yours ?
Got same problem also...
For some reason my "when to show" preferences aren't working. I tell Skada not to show in PvP or when solo but it does, and sometimes it doesn't show in a party when I have that selected.
Just checked. The addon isn't tracking the uptime or absorbs of the Colossus weapon enchant. Going to try to add it myself, but an official update would probably be better.
I am having exactly same problem in Heart of Fear raid.I deleted addon today to clean install and will share if i get better results.
I want to first say I love this addon! But I'm posting to see if it is a known issue that Skada seems to only save two trash pulls in Heart of Fear. I have the option selected to only save boss segments, but it won't. Just those two trash pulls. I can see current fight stats fine, but not previous boss pulls.
I thought it was weird Skada wouldn't show data some of the time, but now that I think about it, it was indeed always in Heart of Fear.
There's an option in the config somewhere that lets you choose the "default" screen you want (or something to that effect).
Can you (or anyone for that matter) confirm where this option is? I've looked through the options multiple times and I'm having the same issue. From what I can tell looking through the coding it's default is set to current, but keeps doing totals as well.
Skada keeps defaulting to showing "totals" rather than "current fight" every time I zone somewhere. No matter how many times I switch it to "current fight", it will set itself back to "total".

New feature: Have the Number format option change the DPS and HPS column under Damage and Healing.
Maybe even give more options for number formatting.
when are you implementing this?
Yea, just noticed that myself, tho as far as tested only see it not working on my panda monk...
Skada addon stopped working recently on all toons. i have tried deleting and reinstalling multiple times and it still does not appear.
Hey, could you Add opacity feature like Raven addon. (was my suggestion) this option you can find under General via "bar groups" tab after you create a bar group
I.E.
Opacity "in Combat" "out of combat" "mouseover" "fade effects" Slider

Raven Addon http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/raven
Skada dosent detect it when players are on other platforms, like on Sha of Fear, it stops recording them completely when your not on the same platform with them, any fix for this?
It really ruins the addon for the fights effected because it dosent provide... accurate numbers.
There is no easy fix for that, your client simply doesn't "receive" any combat log entries from players on other platforms. Same applies to phasing realms, like at Gara'jal.
I remember the very first dps meters had a sync option to communicate data with other players. That would be a way to receive combat log entries from other realms.
