Elkano's BuffBars

EBB provides groups of (mainly) statusbar style indicators to show (de)buffs currently affecting your char or some other units (focus, pet and target). For the player, it can also show indicators for temporary enchants placed on their weapons.

For over 20 years, EBB has been a mainstay for both long-term and returning players (at least some) and reports of its death have been greatly exaggerated.

Two-in-One Download

For Classic WoW, the addon uses its older 2.x code base, for Mainline WoW (Retail and Forever) it is now based on Blizzard's AuraContainer; all in the same download file.

2.x based on UnitAura

Version 2.x was a total recode, initially based on the Ace2 framework, later ported to Ace3, which became necessary in order to support some of the longtime wanted and suggested features. It has served well for ~19 years (since June '07) and made it possible to show different groups of bars which can be configured in many ways. Each group can be assigned an individual look and filter settings. After setting up a group, its anchor can be hidden by alt-left clicking a bar or the anchor itself in order to lock the group in place.

Due to changes Blizzard made with WoW 4.x it's no longer possible to cancel buffs without the use of secure frames. EBB v2 thus limits cancelling of buffs to out-of-fight since using SecureAuraHeader would have required a major code restructuring. ~~This will be coming in a later version.~~

3.x based on AuraContainer

This is once again a complete artisanal rewrite, which became necessary due to Blizzard making auras secret in combat. This also gave me the push to include some features I already wanted but never included before. And you can cancel buffs in combat again.

Layouts can now be shared between groups, support multi-line/-column alignments, and give you way more options than before. But it can also just look the same as it used to.

What did suffer from the change of underlying technology are some of the filter options, as Blizzard has intentionally broken those.

And I haven't added localization to v3, yet. So most texts are in English besides a few strings reused from the game client.

Settings

The settings can be accessed via chat (/ebb), LDB icon, or simply via the game settings.

In order to get additional bar textures and fonts for EBB simply install e.g. SharedMedia which is available for download under https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/sharedmedia

"The time on buffs/debuffs still go down, but when it hits 0, it doesn't go away."

I have the same problem, when the counter reach 0:00 the buff is still shown and this is preventing the PowerAuras addon to indicate the missing buff.

I applaud the resiliency of the mod, and do love its usefulness! However, would you be working on an ace3 update? EBB is the last addon I use that keeps me bound to ace2 libraries.
If not, I understand the "not broken, don't fix it" mantra. Thanks for making this, been using since BC!

once you whitlisted one you have to whitelist all or remove all from the whitelist (empty whitelist -> filter disabled)

I dunno why, but I'm having to manually whitelist almost all (if not all) debuffs. Is it only me that's having this problem?

Is there any way of rearranging the groups? If not, could you add that feature? Becomes a bit of a mess if you don't create them in the right order to start with.

i've been trying to find a way to track important missing buffs, and none of the options i've found so far really fit my needs. i spent time trying to configure this addon, but i dont think it does it either. for instance, it would be nice to see, at a glance, if wisdom is missing.

what would really be awesome would be a reverse white list. where items on the list not present show up, but when present disappear. so when fully raid buffed the fame should be empty, assuming you have all your buffs.

the concept being the user would create a filter listing every buff they want.

or conversely, buffs added to the white list always show, even when not active. but when not active, show up in a different color to signify they are missing. or use full bars for auras / non timer buffs, and empty bars for missing buffs. but honestly i prefer the first method.

is anything like that possible and i'm just missing it?

and if not, can i make a feature request?

When i try to scale down the frame, the buff frame shrinks but debuff's stay the same size

Each group is independant with it's scaling settings. You can copy visual settings between groups though.

Elkano's BuffBars are not working properly after this maintenence.
When i log in, it shows my buffs, but it doesn't update when i loose/gain buffs.
The time on buffs/debuffs still go down, but when it hits 0, it doesn't go away.

Only way to update the buffs is to relog or /reloadui

First off, great mod - I don't think I could stand playing WoW without it these days.

Not really a bug but more of a feature request - is there a way to adjust the strata of the bars? I have a custom group showing my Envenom buff, but a few of my other addons have a habit of covering it mid-fight. I had a decent search around the mod's options but couldn't find anything... am I being blind or is this something that could be added?

But try: /ebb config
that will open the config, too.

Thanks for the fast reply. I did try /ebb config first, but the command is not recognized. It appears the addon is not installed correctly. Is there any dependencies? I installed it with Curse Client, let me try manual and report back.
