Elkano's BuffBars

EBB provides groups of (mainly) statusbar style indicators to show (de)buffs currently affecting your char or some other units (focus, pet and target). For the player, it can also show indicators for temporary enchants placed on their weapons.

For over 20 years, EBB has been a mainstay for both long-term and returning players (at least some) and reports of its death have been greatly exaggerated.

Two-in-One Download

For Classic WoW, the addon uses its older 2.x code base, for Mainline WoW (Retail and Forever) it is now based on Blizzard's AuraContainer; all in the same download file.

2.x based on UnitAura

Version 2.x was a total recode, initially based on the Ace2 framework, later ported to Ace3, which became necessary in order to support some of the longtime wanted and suggested features. It has served well for ~19 years (since June '07) and made it possible to show different groups of bars which can be configured in many ways. Each group can be assigned an individual look and filter settings. After setting up a group, its anchor can be hidden by alt-left clicking a bar or the anchor itself in order to lock the group in place.

Due to changes Blizzard made with WoW 4.x it's no longer possible to cancel buffs without the use of secure frames. EBB v2 thus limits cancelling of buffs to out-of-fight since using SecureAuraHeader would have required a major code restructuring. ~~This will be coming in a later version.~~

3.x based on AuraContainer

This is once again a complete artisanal rewrite, which became necessary due to Blizzard making auras secret in combat. This also gave me the push to include some features I already wanted but never included before. And you can cancel buffs in combat again.

Layouts can now be shared between groups, support multi-line/-column alignments, and give you way more options than before. But it can also just look the same as it used to.

What did suffer from the change of underlying technology are some of the filter options, as Blizzard has intentionally broken those.

And I haven't added localization to v3, yet. So most texts are in English besides a few strings reused from the game client.

Settings

The settings can be accessed via chat (/ebb), LDB icon, or simply via the game settings.

Great addon Elk. Just an idea/suggestion: To streamline the process of filtering, is it possible to get a "real time" option, like to shift right click on a (de)buff to filter it to black list? Sorry if this has been suggested, or if it's even in already (don't think so).

I just got this addon last week and am still working on it. I changed from CT_BuffMod. One thing I liked about CT that I can't figure out how to do with EBB is that ALL the debuffs were colored red, and ALL the debuffs were shown below any buffs. So you had one list, and all the top stuff was buffs, and any debuffs you had were automatically placed belowe any buffs you had, also sorted by time remaining.

I've noticed with EBB, some debuffs are colored as buffs (even with Debuff Coloring selected), and the time remaining on debuffs are mixed in with the time remaining on buffs. So my buffs can be listed, from top down, as: buff, buff, debuff, buff, debuff, buff. I want it to read: buff, buff, buff, buff, debuff, debuff.

Sorry for the long text - just making sure I'm clear in my description. Any help?

If debuffs show up in between buffs it means that you put both in the same group. You've got to keep them in different groups in order to have them separated.
Also, the dubuffs weren't colored as buffs but as magical debuffs (which color is also blue). If you don't want them to be colored by debuff type (green for poison, purple for curses, ...) disable the debuff coloring.

Could you add a feature to have all the debuffs and buffs in the same group and debuffs all being sorted below buffs?

Hate to say this... but isn't that the default setting for EKB? It has two groups, one for buffs and one for debuffs, and they are linked so that the debuff always starts right below the buffs.

Been this way since I started using EKB in TBC.

Hi there! I find this addon super useful, but was wondering if there was a way to have the colors for buffs be set differently like the choice for "Debuff Coloring". Perhaps a "Buff Coloring"? or perhaps a way to set colors for certain buffs/debuffs. Thanks!

Tip for anyone having trouble viewing individual icons (ex. buffs that are proc'ed from abilities): Go into Override Settings, find your buff, and set it to a different type like Debuff. If you also rename it, it makes this much easier to see.

Doing that for EVERY player (de)buff is both time consuming and CPU intensive. It's not quite what I had in mind ;)

With the new api changes to (de)buffs, is it possible to easily hide all standard (de)buffs? I only want to see boss/encounter specific (de)buffs.

Yes you can do this. Right click on the mini-map icon, select Group Settings - Group 1 - Filter - Black List - DEBUFF then select whatever you don't want to show.

Was wondering if the interface is going to be brought up to date with other mods. The zillion pull down menu interface is the hardest to use. The dialog box style is so much easier.

The other is the whitelist has so many things in it, it goes off the screen.

I downloaded your addon through a UI pack and i really like it, but it seems the author removed totems, moonkin form and some other buffs from the interface because they ain't showing and i can't seem enable them to show up under my buffs either.
Where can i change these things?

Hello Elkano, i rly miss option to show only my debufs casted on target. I play SP and i have problems with refreshing my DOTs right if there is another SP in raid. If your current addon is able to setup it like i needed, can u please tell me how ? :) Thx a lot. Btw this addon is awesome :)

try setting the selfcast filter to whitelist ^^ (aka "let only spells cast by me pass the filter")
