ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
I've been using this add-on for years, and love it. Thanks for all your hard work.
I only have one question: is there a way in edit mode to show the titles of bars? I don't want the titles in normal mode because it takes up too much vertical space, but when I'm editing I have no idea which bar is assigned to what, and I have to check each one. It would be nice to set the titles, but only see them in edit mode.
EDIT: for example, in the AI settings->Designs>Bars->Style->Name, have a check for "Only show in edit mode", or something to that effect.
EDIT 2: Or maybe the option could be to show the Bar name and title when mousing over the bar number? Thanks
i'll probably go with your first option
Hi, I'm a little late here but just wanted to say thank you for adding the accounts section. I was finally able to delete info for a heap of old guilds and it's just such a nice small thing to see gone from tooltips lol.
Love the addon, thanks for all your work.
Hello, my "set-up", how I made my bags with this addon seem wonky lately. What can be the cause? Usually they look like this: https://imgur.com/a/v6LqvTu
with 5 "rows / bags", as I like it, but now they look like bottom picture, and I cant get it work like it was before. Some-times it reverts back to how I had it before...makes no sense. I thought it was an update that messed with my settings, but reverting back didnt help - I also haven't changed arkinventory settings in really long...happend like 5 days ago.
Hope the picture is clear enough.
i think you may have shifted to a different profile so go into the config and make sure you are using the profile you should be, and also check that its style, design, and category set are also correct
In reply to Arkayenro:
Its all correct, re-checked settings 4 times now...Maybe I should just re in-stall and spend 1-2 hour starting over :p Weird thing is that it jumps as I open my bags, so some-times the bags are back to normal, to just be messed up as I open them again - Maybe addon issue on my end, some other addon...idk.
the only other thing i can think of is that you have other categories enabled and bag categories are now lower in priority to active system and custom categories
go into edit mode and click on a bar that has items in it that shouldnt and make sure any categories assigned to that bar are disabled (they can be assigned they just cant be enabled)
Having an error since every verison after .25:
I have a rule for tabards and a rule for shirts.
Even though the itemstring-rule has the correct IDs, tabards are still put into "shirts"-rule-position and are also marked as being an item of the rule "shirts". Even though the itemstring IDs are correct and the tabard ID is NOT even in that rule.
Happens to other items as well.
Aware of this issue?
Didnt find any under "known issues".
Need further info?
Can post screenshots.
yes, some more info would be helpful.
whats the error?
whats in the two rules? the position and the forumla
you should be using the equip function with either "INVTYPE_BODY" or "shirt" for shirts, or "INVTYPE_TABARD" or "tabard" for tabards.
they shouldnt ever end up in the wrong category unless blizzard have screwed up
In reply to Arkayenro:
Hey Ark!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this addon.
I will post 3 pics here.
I have 2 rules:
1. "Hemden" (which is german for "shirts")
and
2. "Wappenröcke" (tabards; more specific: "Klassik-Ruf-Wappenröcke", which is german for: "classic-reputation-tabards")
you can see in one pic, that the tabard is listed as an item from the "Hemden"-rule, even though the itemstring ID is not in the "Hemden"-rule.
I opened the rule windows on the right side.
in the other pic, you can see that the tabard's ID is correctly in the "tabard"-rule, yet it will be detected as an item from the "shirts"-rule.
I add a third pic which is guild bank.
there is an item which has the ID 38xxx.
It is also detected as an item from the "shirts"-rule.
I noticed myself that in the shirts-rule there are 3 items which have an ID of only 2 digits.
For example there is one shirt which has the ID of 38 (must be a very early item in wow).
This ID is in the shirts-rule as you can see.
However, somehow all items with IDs 38xxxxx are therefore incorrectly "understood/added/recognized" as items of ID 38.
This dows not happen in Version .25
Only in the versions afterwards.
I do not know about a fix and why this happens with version .26 and later.
Mabye an easy way around this could be something to make IDs in the rules like "38" to something like "00038" or such?!
However, I hope you understood.
If not, I can try to explain further.

.26 had a fix for the itemstring rule function that i ended up making worse.
should be fixed in the next release
could you try the r985-alpha and let me know if that fixes it?
In reply to Arkayenro:
Hey :)
Yes, it seems like it fixed it.
Just checked tabards on 1 char, but if it turns out, it wasn't fixed on other chars / inventories, I will let you know ;)
THANK you, so much Ark! :D
In reply to Arkayenro:
there typically arent any alphas/betas for classic as its a pain to duplicate those files. its the exact same code as retail (just named for classic) anyway so you could just copy it across from retail to classic manually
In reply to Arkayenro:
fixed in 3.09.30
THANK YOU SO MUCH :)
Have a nice day .)
In reply to vacatonta:
I am having an issue with new items initially going into the default section for unassigned categories. If I then reopen the bags after waiting a few minutes the items then show under the correct sections.
its normal for items to sit in their default category then shift to the correct ones when you first open the bag at load time as thats when the translations are loaded
it sounds like the translations are taking a long time on your machine. is there any output about the translations? it should try about 5 times to load them
Ok, I'm hoping someone can help me out with this little problem I'm having...
So after installing ArkInventory and going into Edit Mode, I created 5 categories, one for each Bag. So that makes it sorta work like the default bags. Then I created another section above for Healing Potions. But it seems that they won't go up to that section, even though it says their default section is "Consumables > Health (Potion/Stone)" unless I remove the Bag categories.
What I'm trying to do is to get ArkInventory to function pretty much like the normal bags, unless I create a special section for something. Then I want it to automatically put those items in their assigned section. Is this possible?
Thanks!
not at the moment as it was coded with the bag categories having first preference.
i'll move them to secondary so you can pull things out of bags via the other categories if you want as it makes more sense to allow that to happen
