ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Whatever you did overnight fixed it for me. You are my hero.
Thank you so very much for maintaining my #1 must-have addon!
Somehow I can't use the sort methode and the catagorize thingy. It's "Locked" need help :/
ArkInventory dont work for me. I tried to erase the cache, disable all addons and delete the WTF. How can I help you? LUA errors logs?
yes, if youre getting errors that would probably be helpful. version number would be as well, theres a few of them today.
Is there a way to load old settings or is ti borked?
have a chance load settings from old profile?
Not sure if this is an ArkInventory issue or an ElvUI issue but before the patch I was able to set a Data Text to the ArkInventory Mount List and just click on that on my data text to use an applicable mount that I could configure. Now I get a tooltip that just says Mount Journal Not Ready.
I was able to view my bank by using the bag layout. Not what I was used to but looks cool and is useful.
I haven't been able to get the "profile" setting to work. I've had to do this finagling for each toons. Has anyone found a workaround for that?
I do love this add-on!
OK now I can see my Bank but if I change back from Bag to Bank I am not able to modify the (now) crazy looking layout
I don't get it. Why change the way this addon worked? Now its just confusing and really frustrating! Why change it?!
Edit:
I'm probably missing something. Is there a automated sorting feature in this new version? If not then why make it so hard to start sorting?
(And yes, I did manage to get it working again.)
DISCLAIMER: While I'm a software engineer with some lua/addon experience, I only vaguely understand what the steps I'm prescribing below do. Before beginning:
- BACKUP any files before you change them
- Make sure you have the latest version of ArkInventory (I used 3.06.09)
For people still having problems, I had two different things I had to fix to get back to a working state (one of my guildies didn't need to do 1, as they were already like that for him, so if this is the case for you, skip to 2).
1) The Blueprint for each type of bag was wrong in my Config, they were all set to the 9999 variants, and I had to change these to the 10XX variants:

you need to do this for all 11 tabs, and take note that the Style and Layout should match the type of tab. Category Set will be the same for all:

2) The mappings between items and the category they go in didn't have the Category Set as part of it after my data was imported so I had to manually put that in:
2a) Exit the game completely
2b) Edit your WTF\Account\<AccountName>\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
2c) Find the ["global"] -> ["option"] -> ["catset"] -> ["data"] -> [1001] section
2d) Replace every instance of item:XXXX with 1001:item:XXXX. The easiest way to do this for most people would probably be to cut the whole block containing the lines that look like:
["item:117397:1"] = "1!438",
into a separate document, find/replace "item:" with "1001:item:" and then cut that and paste it back into the exact same place, being careful to observe the braces.

Just logged in to thank you mate. ;)
crap, that item stuff was not meant to happen, ill see if i can code in a fix for it
The fix listed here definitely fixed my bags, but I can no longer view my bank, mailbox, etc.. I can select it in the "Toggle Location" selection but cant actually view it when I go to open it at an npc or chest.
I can not open the Bank, the layout is completly destroyed, the bag is on the left top corner and the bags are reight beside but I can not see any items
Have loaded newest version, still no sorting and when I am in edit mode it just says locked on all numbers.
Sadly, same for me :(
/e update fixed the sorting options for me, and there were "defaults" settings for bag, bank etc.

You have to change the "9999 Default" Sytle, Layout and Category Set under:
Controls > Blueprint
If you don't have any create one > Settings > Sort Methods / Categories / Designs
Just haven't figured out how to change my sort settings like before
If you have problems with sorting your bags, bank, void storage and so on:
1. Go to Config >> Controls.
2. On every tab change the dropdown menus Style, Category Set, and Layout to the names you'd been using before patch 7.0.
3. The dropdown menus Style, Category Set, and Layout MUST NOT contain the word Default. If it does, assigning categories to items will not work.

if you are on a German server, you may have a different problem.
