ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
After update
still not working for me. All my previous sortings doesn't work.
Please fix it, thank you!!
Same Problem here. Sorting doesn't work.
Config Menue doesn't open.
Any Hints?
my config menu doesn't open either, so I can't change the layout.
Edit: 3.06.10 helped insofar that the config menu now opens. I renamed all the Layouts/Categories/etc. Although I do have 2 sets of everything. Trying to figure out which one was my latest ;)
But seems to work.
Where are directions on how to actually use this? I go to Edit Mode and I can't edit any bars. The tooltip says I 'may need to create one', but you don't tell me how to do this.
'assign a non-System layout to this location'
What does this mean?! What do I do?
If you have problems with sorting your bags, bank, void storage and so on:
1. Go to Config >> Controls.
2. On every tab change the dropdown menus Style, Category Set, and Layout to the names you'd been using before patch 7.0.
3. The dropdown menus Style, Category Set, and Layout MUST NOT contain the word Default. If it does, assigning categories to items will not work.
First just want to say I've been using this add-on for years since Burning Crusade. It is by far the best all in one bag addon out there hands down. Thanks for having this ready for patch day (after I figured out the new "default" bag settings everything was great.
The only thing is why was the Hidden/Show Hidden toggle removed from the menu? I use that all the time because I have several things hidden that I just don't care to see every time I open my bags but I do toggle it to show hidden quite frequently during gameplay. The option seems to be removed not only from the main menu (clicking the upper left hand corner bag icon but I can't find the ability to toggle show hidden at all anymore. Maybe I'm just missing something but this was a very nice feature. In the meantime I just went through and unhide all of the categories that I normally had hidden. Please consider returning this to the menu or even better yet have the hidden/show hidden toggle be up on the little icons in the upper right hand part of the UI.
Thanks for years of supporting the 1 addon I would say I absolutely couldn't play the game without.

if you are on a German server, you may have a different problem.

Hi Serious2,
I can't seem to get anything else than "Default" on my "Category Set" drop down menu. How do I change that?
Thanks
thanks, that fixed it for me aswell!
This worked for me for version 3.06.08 but after i updated to 3.06.09 the only option is [9998] * Guild Bank for Style and Layout, and [9999] * Default for Category Set.
I tried changing the two I could to Guild Bank but that did not work.
Go to Settings >> Categories >> Category Set and use the field Add to add a new category set. But before you do you'd better check your old profile is chosen in Profiles.
I have selected personally created Options in all 3 "Style" "Layout" and "Category Set" yet in edit mode it still shows "* locked *" everywhere and i can't change that.
I so love this addon, but installation continues to fail.
I'll be switching to an inferior one till it gets fixed :(
Great addon, and I've been using it for YEARS upon YEARS. Just updated and every custom sorting flag I had for every item got reset to its default so we're talking about approximately 80 pieces of gear that are no longer sorted and all clumped together in my bags and another 200 or so in my bank. Never have I had this happen when updating ArkInventory. Any reason as to why it may have done this and any way to recover that sorting without having a separate addon backup folder? I never bothered backing up ArkInv because I've never had this issue. Custom sorting categories are all still there, but each item is reverted back to default.

The answer is one post above yours. Got my stuff sorted now.
Thank you but I never used custom named Styles, Layouts and Category Sets. These options don't change anything for me. Everything is still broken and mashed together. :(
All of my settings got delete. I cant even restore the back up ArkInventory.lua .
Trying to change the settings on the bars just shows "Locked" with red color.
When you mouse over the red "Locked" text, the tooltip says that options are hidden and says to assign a non system layout to this location and I need to create one.
How do you create one? I can't find it anywhere.
