ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Same. I'm getting "installation failed" thru Curse Client.
Try downloading it from the project site on wowace?
http://www.wowace.com/addons/ark-inventory/files/
(download the top/latest version).
I had errors from the curse download for version 3.06.07, but the wowace download works fine for me. There are other addons having problems with curse's packaging, so it's not just AI.
Sooooo if you go to controls, and click on bag and goto layout you can select "default" which was my personal settings from before. So your settings are not gone - they have been saved as a separate layout.
Not for everyone
"* Default" is the system default, youll get "locked" if you use it. if you used the default profile then it should have copied over your settings as "Default"
its a small difference but it can cause confusion
Default didn't work for me, but setting Layout/Style for Bag to "[1001] Default - Bag" restored all of my pre-patch settings and bars (and the bars are no longer locked).
I had to relog on a couple of characters to get the changes to apply. The Default profile doesn't seem to save Control changes for all characters set to it.
One thing to note- I had to reload UI after selecting my default before it would take effect!
Even after the latest update, it's still not working for curse....so......
Followed Kaleq's advice below and it's finally working.
"...The not loading at all problem seemed to resolve when I manually installed the addon through wowinterface.com (download and paste into interface/addons, exit game and launch again)."
I wish I knew why it is working for some of you but not for me. I went so far as to remove all of my addons and all of my former settings, then installed the WowInterface copy manually to my addons folder and I'm still getting two errors that are now allowing me to see modify any of the settings. So frustrating considering I rely heavily on ArkInventory to sort through my bags/banks/etc and that is exactly the thing I really need to get done right now. :P
if you post the errors, or create a ticket, i will take a look at it
You fixed those... I just have no idea how to use it anymore. The features I loved are "locked" and I can't figure out how to use it.
while logged in, open your bag,
1) click the bag (menu) at the top left
on the left navigation:
a) click on "Config"
b) Click Profiles
i) select a profile: Default, Class, Server or Character name
b) Then Click on "Controls"
2) while on "Controls"
a) select the tab "Bag" or "Bank" or which ever location you want.
b) right side navigation will show "Style", "Layout" and "Category Set"
c) Select the [####] Default - (Bag/Bank/Whichever) item for each: style and layout
d) you can set the category set to [1001] default
3) type in /reload ui or /reload.
That should show your set up from before.
installed this as an alternative to another bag addon that doesn't look like it's getting an update for 7.0.3. However, I'm trying to build my first sort method, and the menu item is completely missing.
please help.
Thanks so much for the instructions on how to fix this. I couldn't live without this mod.
Seems to have deleted which item categories I had assigned to what bars. I only used and saved it under the Default profile, since I use all the same ones for every character. Or maybe it's just "forgotten" some particular items belong in those categories. Like my ore and flasks and potions are where they should be, but Fish and enchanting mats are not.
It also seems to have changed my fonts and stuff slightly
it shouldnt have change categories but i think there might be an issue with the new itemstring format causing it that i need to look into
I also got it to work, using Khaleq's instructions. Took some fiddling, some reloading, but it definitely works. Phew! this is one of the few add ons that I really depend on.
Thank you!
Here is the latest LUA error I'm getting:
Message: Interface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryRealms.lua:212: bad argument #1 to 'unpack' (table expected, got no value)
Time: Tue Jul 19 18:45:25 2016
Count: 1
Stack: [C]: in function `unpack'
Interface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryRealms.lua:212: in main chunk
Locals: (*temporary) = "table expected, got no value"
thats fixed in 3.06.07
I... am bloody confused by the changes. My soul feel crushed as this add-on kept my OCD brain at bay. Now i'm finding myself trying to sort my bags using the ingame crap UI.
