ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
That is not an ArkInventory related issue, but a long-standing issue with the blizzard code.
A long while back blizzard chose to block every 3rd party addon from setting focus via the right-click menu, instead allowing it only via their default unitframes.
You can set and clear focus with the /focus and /clearfocus macro commands, or via the keybinding interface but cannot through the right-click menu if the unitframes are being replaced.
Chances are a unitframe addon you are using is also using Ace3, which is a library of common functions often used by many addons.
Therefore errors coming happening in that can be mistakenly attributed to any other addon also using that library.
So, I logged onto my monk today and tried to access my bank and it has every item shadowed like it is offline. I can deposit items into my bank but not take any out, and if I disable ArkInventory bank monitoring, the normal Blizz bank works fine. Any ideas?
I'm having the same issue and it seems to be a strata problem. Doing framestack shows all elements are on the medium layer but the order within the layer seems to be wrong as the "Frame" and "FrameContainer" are higher than the actual BagItems. Compared to my bag - whish is showing correctly, where the Bag#Item# are highest on the medium layer... if any of that makes sense?
Just reloaded and it's functioning now... strange
First off, I love your addon. Perhaps I'm just missing it, but I can't get this to work.
I've not been able to get the loot that LFR drops to be routed by a rule and sorted into a particular bag. I'm probably going to have to used the item IDs as a work around. I've tried tt( "Open" ) or name("Open") and it will not sort even if I separate the line into a single rule. Everything I've read says that tt("Open") should work.
For example, Amber Encased Treasure Pouch.
I've tried turning all the other rules off, and also setting the priority of this rule to 1 while the other are lower, and still don't have any luck. I don't believe there are any bag assignments overriding it, either. For now, I'm just using this, which should cover most lockboxes.
id( 95619,95618,95617,97268,72201,90840,86623,95343) or tt("Right Click to Open")
If you have a better suggestion, that would be great, thank you.

A long-standing issue with the blizzard code, where the code behind dropdown menus is being tainted, something which it has been demonstrated to be possible even without the use of a single addon.
Just another issue blizzard do not give a damn about fixing.
newest version isn't working for me

I looked and LibDialog-1.0 is present
The no-lib version gives me this error

With both of them I get an ingame message saying
failsafe kicked in - aborting arkinventory translations due to an error of some sort.
Edit: new update appears to work now.
Can we possibly get an update on this for 5.2?
done
In my german client, it doesnt detect battlenet accountbind equiabble items correctly. In the bug searching menu it says for boa items "boa: no".
Is it possible to re-route the restacking messages to a differnet channel?
no, but ive added options to disable them
I was hoping to be able to set the number of bars per row independent of each other, because some items are sets of gear [so the bar is small] and others are grouped into a larger bar. So having those smaller bars be on a row that allows for more would be more compact. Is that possible, now or ever?
not really, probably the closest is to enable the compact bars option which bsically just doesnt show any empty bars and pulls everything down into x bars per row, but it means that your bars wont be in the same place all the time.
alternatively you could add in some extra bars and just not assign anything to them so that theyre always empty
In the example screenshots, there are multiple bars for each row; but not the same amount [the bottom row has three bars in it, the next up has four, etc]. I don't see a way to do that in mine, but I would love to know how! Thanks in advance.
the example actually has 5 bars per row, just that as nothing has ended up in a couple of bars those arent shown so you see less in some rows
(theres an option to show empty bars if you want that to happen)
Okay, thanks for your help. )
Is there a way to make rules apply to only one character? What I am trying to do is make a rule for my priest that would separate all plate, mail, and leather soulbound armor so i can know to just sell them at a vendor since I can't mail them to my disenchanter. I have the rule working fine, but my problem is that it is also taking effect on my other characters that do use those armor types. Is there anything I can do here so that this rule is just in effect on my priest?
the rules are global but the enabled/disabeld state is currently per profile, so for different toons to have different rules enabled youd have to put them on different profiles
check that instant sorting is not enabled, its under config > settings > location > window > sorting > instant (should not be ticked)
youll still get updates but its usually the re-sort that kills
