ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
should be fixed in 3.03.25
With 3.03.24 I can no longer acces the guildbank. Frame is locked and not movable.

could you add an option so that we can choose which chat window gets the pet battles messages?
Thanks!
Is there anything you can do with the random proc items (my guess is these are not Ark bugs but limitations in WoW)
It has to do with the random proc items: e.g. Misthide bracers. You get random stats and also randomly proc a blue version. I have a bunch of 415 blues in my bags: of the undertow, of the wavecrest, of the windflurry, ...
The first problem is that my bag sort algorithm, which uses name, does not sort them properly. Nor does the bag search bar find them: e.g. enter WI in the search bar and it does not select the matching bracers. Mousing over tooltip show the correct item name.
It would be nice if there was a workaround to use their actual name as opposed to the generic name for items like 90495..
Since the last update new gems I cut don’t stack, quite odd. Only happens with cutting them as when they come out of the mail box or trade they stack correctly. I don’t know if this is only with jewel crafting or other professions. It could always be more poop for the life of jewel crafters, sigh.
Yup i ama nub, total jus tpress the restack button and boom everything is stacked nice and pretty, thanks for the addon i love it and life sucks when its outa date
initial item storage and stacking is a wow thing. ai just shows you where it ended up.
I am sorry for the repost. Already saw the post more down. Lets see some ppl dont have that bug?!
Is it possible to implement a autostack? like just push the order button if a new gem appears? I would love that if you could implement it. Or maybe if that would cost to much power, a methode that calls the restack everytime 10 items added to the bag or such. (with a checkbox?)
Best Regards and thanks!
I actually love this addon but i got a problem since 1-2 days. Does it automatically stack gems or was it a functionality of wow. Because this isnt working anymore. Would be nice to know if its a bug of this or a setting in wow.
Best regards
For the past few days or so, I've been having issues where ArkInventory is causing my game to crash whenever I try to zone in to some place. Anyone else having this problem?
It's definitely ArkInventory causing it, I disable the addon and everything runs smoothly. It's only happened for the last 2 days or so. I updated the addon today and still the same problem. :-/
i would suggest that you test its actually saving your settings by making a change, exit the game, log back in. if its not saving the settings then you may want to confirm that you can write to the savedvariable file (is it read only, or has other security applied)
ai does not wipe out your settings at upgrades, it upgrades them when required, but i havent had to do that for a long time now.
Hello, I wanted to ask how can I save my settings.
I had already several times my reassign items my Custom slots after I updated the addon.
Now again there is a new update and I do not like last time again this chaos in the pocket and in the bank where I have an hour long then organize everything new.
Thank you very much
musame
Hi. Absolutly love this addon and been using it for years. Today tho, for some reason the addon stopped auto stacking items i craft (gems) and i have to do it manually. Been looking and looking but just cant seem to find any option to turn this on/off, is it me being blind as a bat or did something change?
*Edit* Seems like i only have the issue when cutting green quality gems. They then get stacked 1 and 1 rather then together.
/ Lani
its a game issue as ai cannot impact which bag/slot an item goes into or if it gets stacked or not. by default ai just displays items, only the restack action will actually move things around.
gems used to have issues not stacking when they are created, i thought blizzard fixed that, maybe its crept back in.
just use the restack option every now and then.
In particular, I tend to have the Ark restack keybound. Alt ctrl Shift R for restack.
I absolutely love this addons functionality, however, my issue with Ark is how much memory it seems to hog. Itll eat up anywhere from 45-80mb of memory at any given time. Are there any plans to slim this down a bit?
nope (well not at a high priority anyway), its storing a crap load of data, and churns through a large amount of temporary data while building the layout - its a lot of memory but its never really been an actual issue
the default floating battlepet tooltip is a custom frame, its not really a tooltip per se, and its not a frame i can easily just add text into because if someone else does then were going to overlap.
ai uses the default itemref tooltip which is a standard tooltip and just populates that with the same data plus what i need, anyone else can add data to it without causing issues.
the downside to a standard tooltip is that you cant add clickable areas, like blizzard have in that custom frame, i might be able to hook into just clicking the tooltip while its open and having it open the pet journal but i think while it might be possible its going to be very messy.
any chance of getting the [view in journal] link to show up on pet tooltips? its there by default but somehow ark is removing it.
