PitBull4 is a continuation of PitBull.

Differences from PitBull 3:

  • It's mostly done, but not entirely done thus why there are still only betas (despite this it is still very stable).
  • Documentation is written before functions
  • Much easier for third-party extensions.
  • Options will be much, much simpler. In 3.0, there's about 200 panels that you can mess with, it's overwhelming. I want to bring this down to somewhere around 10.
    • Layouts are defined deterministically and unit groups use the layout rather than ad-hoc layouts on a per-unit basis. This will make setting up your unit frames far, far easier.
    • Due to some decisions made, 4.0 is actually more configurable than 3.0. As a layout designer, you will have a lot more control over how things look. You can have different fonts on the same frame, different textures, more precise positioning, and a whole slough of other things.
  • CPU Efficiency will be taken much more seriously.
  • It uses Ace3 instead of Rock.

    The closest I could come to what you want Aethwyn was using a custom fader that was 100% opaque for everything except when the unit was 'player' or 'playerpet' (for when you're in vehicles).

    This way I could hide the single sticking out frame, although it is unfortunately still there and can be clicked on. I hid mine behind my player frame though so it wasn't an issue.

    Making the fader was a single line change to one of the existing modules, and then random header changes to change the module's name

    @Aethwyn, There's really no good way to do that with the SecureGroupHeader that we have to use. The only way to filter is by the options that we provide and by using a namelist. The name list works by setting the names of the players you want to display. The problem with the namelist feature is you can only change the namelist while out of combat. So if someone joins you group while you're in combat they won't show until you drop combat and the list can be updated again. I'm not very inclined to implement things that use that feature because I think it's more confusing than it's worth to users.

    Hi Shefki, cheers for getting Pitbull4 working on the Cataclysm beta so quickly, I was missing it terribly. I have a (hopefully small) request:

    Could you add the ability to filter just your own unit frame out when in groups? I'd like to be able to display parties as 2x2, 10 man raids as 9x9 and 25 man raids as 6x4.

    @costomojin, You should report the problem to the Rune-it-all author. Has nothing to do with PitBull4.

    What is the issue? I am using a rune addon other then pitbull 4, My issue is everytime I mount in a vehicle my runes move to the player health frame. When I dismount the runes stay there till I re-load the UI. I want to say that I don't have something turned off in pitbull but I cannot say for certain. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Please provide any additional information below. I am using bartender, Pitbull 4 and Rune-it-all.

    Is it possible to move the position of the name text away from the anchor points? By using offsets of some sort, like the aura setup?

    Hi. I have a problem with Pitbull addon. I sorted out how to work with it, made some nice looked interface. But then, when i wanna test it i went on BG. That was Eye of Storm and when i get in there i receive some errors compared with Pitbull. It works properly, but i have on the screen 5 or 6 unexpected bars. Without any text or something, only horizontal colored bars. They apper and disappear randomly. Later i went to WSG and there was no problems at all. Sadly, but i have no time yesterday to test the addon work more.

    I understand that, but doesn;t some1 already have that Lua here? cause i don;t know the 1st thing about writing one..
