PitBull Unit Frames 4.0

Pitbull 4 Config Menu

PitBull4 is a continuation of PitBull.

Differences from PitBull 3:

  • It's mostly done, but not entirely done thus why there are still only betas (despite this it is still very stable).
  • Documentation is written before functions
  • Much easier for third-party extensions.
  • Options will be much, much simpler. In 3.0, there's about 200 panels that you can mess with, it's overwhelming. I want to bring this down to somewhere around 10.
    • Layouts are defined deterministically and unit groups use the layout rather than ad-hoc layouts on a per-unit basis. This will make setting up your unit frames far, far easier.
    • Due to some decisions made, 4.0 is actually more configurable than 3.0. As a layout designer, you will have a lot more control over how things look. You can have different fonts on the same frame, different textures, more precise positioning, and a whole slough of other things.
  • CPU Efficiency will be taken much more seriously.
  • It uses Ace3 instead of Rock.

Ahh...would be nice if you'd mention that obsoleteness in your instructions on making custom modules. Would save others from a lot of frustration.

@DesigningKnights modules.xml is obsolete unless you're running a monolithic PitBull4 which we don't package, that's why the whole file is commented out in the packages. So that shouldn't matter. Problem was the .pkgmeta didn't have the line to make the separate directory for the module.

Ok, I completely removed the previous alpha and installed the latest alpha from 4 hours ago. I'm not getting any error messages for pitbull at all (I do have lua errors turned on) , but I do not see the Eclipse module in the list of modules to activate. I see the module in the modules folder, but looking at the modules.xml, there is no reference to the eclipse module at all.

@DesigningKnights Update, I forgot to commit some code. If you're going to run beta/PTR you should be doing so with Lua errors enabled so you can report the errors.

Ok so I see that the latest alpha says in the changelog that the eclipse bar is working on the PTR. Where do I find it in options to activate it?

There are two places on the groups config tab you need to set to Party Pets. One is at the very top, labeled "Current Group" and the second is below labeled "Unit Group"

If you do not set Current Group to Party Pets and leave it on Party then I was able to replicate what you were experiencing.

Here's a pic of how it should look: http://yfrog.com/ngyessamplej

Here's what I am thinking you have: http://yfrog.com/1anosamplej

The different is the very top section of "Current Group"

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out with the issue I'm having. When I'm working on groups no matter which group I have selected on the pull down, it changes party when I try to change the layout.

Here is step by step what I'm doing. I created a new layout called pets. I switched myself to party in the config mode pulldown. Under group on the config screen I switch to Party Pets on the group pull down. Then, on the layout pull down I switch it to pets. And the party group changes while the party pets group stay on the normal layout.

I turned off all my addons except pitbull and had the same issue. I tried upgrading to the latest beta and that doesn't seem to help. I'm truly stumped as to what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

I'm having some problems using this on PTR. The party frames don't seem to create and the health text on the right of any bar is just showing up as {err}. Are these known bugs & will they be fixed in time for 4.0? Just wondering, I switched over to Pitbull from SUF recently after it was announced that SUF would be discontinued. I have all my frames configured and working correctly on Live.

[Edit] Never mind, it would help if I was using the most recently updated Alpha instead of the beta one for live realms. /doh. :)

It's already working in Cataclysm and yes it'll be continued.
