WIM (WoW Instant Messenger) is a World of Warcraft addon which brings an instant messenger feel to communication in game.

Known Issues

Addons can not process messages while chat is in lock down. To get around this, WIM logs all events and then rebuilds and processes them once you have excited lock down. During this time, chat is routed as normal to the default chat frame so you don't miss anything. Unfortunately, /r and similar keybindings to reply during this time will NOT work. Allowing the default chat frame to handle these events cause severe tainting issues and breaks everything.
Community Chat is now supported. It comes with limitations though because the sender name and message are protected and can not be read by addons or saved.

Looking for an addon that will auto log chats and saves the chat log on the local computer. When I login to wow I want the autologging to already be running. Does WIM addon do this?

It works splendid! I have both BigWigs and Autobar too, no problem there. Maybe there is an other addon which causes your errors. :-(

Check your settings. There's an option to not suppress the whispers while in combat.

im trying to set WIM up like the old WIM where when u where in combat the wispers showed up in the defalt chat box and i cant find it, it just dings and the mini map icon starts to blink any help?

I currently have an issue where WIM fails to update the level/location/guild/and color of the class. I get a colorless window with just the name and no other information. The update button fails to update etc. This works sometimes, and normally a restart or reload UI will get it working again, but then will fail again. I also noticed when it stops working I am unable to do /who to find anyone. It just states /who request has been added to the queue. Could WIM be spamming the /who channel causing this issue?

Request:
Could a Search History feature be added where you can search all your history for the last hour, day, week, for a phrase.

As well as being able to see whos messaged as well.

I'm just asking because i tend to lead 25man pugs, and i have to close windows, sometimes i wish i hadn't and could find what someone said, or who said it.

Right now i have to sort by the history of everyone whos ever messaged me, manually, 1 person at a time, with maybe 200 people in my histoy list, its not possible.

Anyway, its a request, i'd love to be able to search everyone, and search for people by time. Rather then just being able to search inside a contact.

And yes, fantastic mod.

I was looking for an addon to let me know when someone messaged me, and instead I got this - which is far more perfect then I ever hoped for.

It is sleek and professional looking, have numerous non-intrusive features, appears to have the lowest memory footprint of all the addons I have installed with two IM windows open..

And smilies. I mean, come on.. smilies in WoW? Why not? :)

After only 15 minutes of use, I am confident that this has made it into my list of 'must have' addons!

Er, I really like this, but for some reason, my chat window makes a beep every time someone says something, which gets really annoying in towns. I turned the sound off, and that didn't help, and now I don't know what's up.

Do you ever plan on going back to simply creating a new tab in the chat pane for each person who whispers you? Or making the message window dockable into the chat pane? I loved this addon when it was like that (at least I'm pretty sure it was this addon), but as it is, my screen real estate is simply too precious to give this addon space :(

I think you are mistaking WIM with another addon. WIM never did this.. I think you are referring to WhisperEnchanced? I forget the name.

I have seen this error arise when people us nUI. I thought it was fixed in recent updates of the addon [nUI] make sure you are using the latest version.

Your messaging traffic is being throttled. It isn't a WIM issue per say, but the next update will limit the amount of addon traffic WIM causes. Although WIM doesn't send that much traffic to cause a throttle, using other addons which share a lot of information in conjunction with WIM can cause this. You might want to disable some of the sharing options on some of your addons. That will reduce your lag problem.
