Rarity
NEW:
- Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.
Looking for Rarity Item Packs? Click here.
Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

Posted May 10, 2015Why is Rarity still tracking BOE pets that I already have?
Most BOE pets are marked as "repeatable", because some people farm them repeatedly to sell. If you don't want to track the pet, open Rarity's options, find the pet, and uncheck Repeatable.
The three mounts you listed are all guaranteed drops, therefore there is no reason for Rarity to track them.

Posted Apr 29, 2015Garn Steelmaw , Smoky Direwolf , Giant Coldsnout , Shadowhide Pearkltusk also drop from the new Garrison Raid bosses (Lady Fleshsear, Gaur, Mage Lord Gogg'nathog, Annihilon, Teluur, Commander Dro'gan) directly. Can you please add them as well as sources?

Posted May 5, 2015Unfortunately, Rarity only supports one detection method at a time for an item. So we'll have to pick one: invasions, or bosses? At this time, the plan is to leave it as-is.

Posted May 5, 2015I'm not aware of any reason for this to stop working. Rarity relies on your Statistics for that kill, so check your Statistics tab under the Achievement window and see if that's working. I was farming LK for a long time and it always worked for me. But I got Invincible a few weeks ago so I'm no longer farming it.

Posted May 16, 2015Just checked the statistics for the characters I run it on, and I have a total of about 50 kills on ICC 25HC. I am using raid-lock sharing though, and I switch from normal 25 to heroic 25 when I have entered a raid in progress. Could that have something to do with it?

Posted May 16, 2015No, that's how I do it, too. Rarity just uses your statistics. If WoW isn't counting your kill, Rarity won't count it either. Check that your Statistic goes up when you kill him. It's under your Achievements window, Statistics tab.

Posted May 20, 2015OK so I killed 25HC LK again today, and I saw the kill count increase in the statistics window, but the addon did not track it. Should I try just reinstalling Rarity or something?

Posted May 20, 2015Hmm. I really can't explain it. Would you be able to turn Debug Mode on and kill him again next week, and post what Rarity puts in your chat window? The Debug Mode toggle is near the bottom of the main options screen.

Posted Apr 29, 2015I'm farming 25HC ICC for Invincible's Reins, but it seems the addon has stopped tracking at 24 attempts. Any idea what is causing this?

Posted Apr 16, 2015Is there any way to add more ways of obtaining an item e.g the sea turtle (it can drop from the cavedwellers as well)?
Also, is there a way to add a counter on the Ominous Seed?

Posted Apr 16, 2015Unfortunately no, Rarity only supports one method of detection per item. Farming detection is also not supported, as looting world objects is problematic. Ominous Seed is pretty common (not rare), so it wasn't added to Rarity.

Posted Apr 22, 2015The cave dwellers can also drop the TCG Riding Turtle mount; given you can either get that from them or from buying the TCG card (aka guarenteed) is there any chance you could track the cave dweller kills?
See http://www.wowhead.com/item=23720/riding-turtle for drop rates, etc.

Posted Apr 22, 2015The Riding Turtle is not the same thing as the Sea Turtle. Rarity currently doesn't track Riding Turtle because I wasn't aware it had a source other than TCG. I can add it in.

Posted Apr 1, 2015I've read the FAQ, but I didn't see anything like this. Sorry if I missed it.
Rarity stopped tracking my Ony mount attempts at 35 tries. I have no idea why. I don't have the mount and have tried at least that many more times since then.
Should I run it in Debug mode next time?
