Rarity
NEW: Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

In reply to Cakechart:
Ya it's the tooltip when mousing over a mob. Unless the item is tagged as repeatable, it's just unnecessary clutter to show stuff you already have IMO. And when you might be hunting for mobs with an item you need it makes you double check when you see the extra tooltip info. Like in nazj I have the weapon rack, but I'm missing the toy the female/caster naga drop so I'm trying to hunt those while ignoring the male/warrior ones.

Any update to this? I have the same issue.
In reply to morfraen:
Thanks, I'll see if I can add an option to hide it.

Nope. I'll see what I can do, but right now there's obviously higher-priority issues at hand.

My server has recently been merged / connected with another one, and since then I've been having an issue with Shackled Ur'zul tracking with Rarity (Argus mythic mount). It seems that Rarity is now treating all my characters on my main server as new characters, and it adds attempts to the count based on the number of kills those alts have in statistics. The problem with that is all those attempts were already in the count.
Now that wouldn't be a problem if I could manually alter it...but I cannot! For whatever reason, whenever I try to change the attempt count to the real one, it reverts back to the faulty one. Is there something I can do to fix this without wiping out the whole addon and reinstalling? That would be quite a pain as I still have some things I'm tracking with it and cba to add all that info myself once again.
In reply to Forge_User_75865779:
The reason is indeed that the characters are now considered to be different ones than before the merge. Rarity stores all accountwide statistics and, by default, overrides the attempts count for items that use statistics to determine the count.
I added a button to the addon (under Rarity>Advanced>Cached Data); clicking it will remove all stored accountwide statistics and nothing else. This should remove all the now-invalid characters and allow you to fix the attempts without having to remove any other data.
If there's an issue still, please let me know! Oh, and you'll need to download the latest beta version, as I haven't prepared a new release yet.
the icc mount attempts doesnt show in chat wel the other mounts but not the icc mount
Can you make the minimap icon not work on hover but make it a button. I always end up accidentally activating it by hovering over it.
In reply to eakiller:
Not sure how easy this is with the libraries that Rarity uses to manage the button, but I can look into it. Status: https://github.com/SacredDuckwhale/Rarity/issues/197
Very surprised to find the number one most obvious thing to include in a addon based on rares and item drops isn't included with the addon, re-spawn time... why is the re spawn time of rares that drops items/mounts etc. not listed, even if its only approx knowing if its a 8 hour or 15mins would help allot.
In reply to Forge_User_13639397:
A few possible reasons I can imagine:
* Times are subject to change
* They aren't very useful for the vast majority of rares
* They can be easily looked up for the few cases where knowing the time is actually relevant
cant get it to announce attempts after kills in chat or says, as well as its not atking SS at all when items are found
In reply to heavendawn1:
same thing dude i hope that he wil fix it
It was recently shown on wowhead that you can get the Knockoff Blingtron pet from the Blingtron 7000 crates. Not just the 6k boxes. The addon currently only increments the counter upon opening the 6k boxes.
See below for people commenting with pictures for proof:

Thanks! I've added the other box to the database in the latest version.
i have some iussess with the addon when i do icc heroic 25 mode and the addon doesnt track the lich king mount attempts in chat and i went today after work some blackrock foundry on myhtic and i killed blackhand and the attempt on the mount doesnt also in chat and other mounts also
In reply to Forge_User_33376126:
You should probably first try to determine whether attempts aren't tracked, or just not displayed. Perhaps you've set it to not announce attempts? Or the items in question might be disabled?
If you've ruled this out, then you could try enabling /rarity debug before the attempt and see if something shows up that provides some hint as to why no attempt was added.
where can i find it the detemine on the addon
I suggest to add Badly Broken Dark Spear to the list of rare drops. It's a rare drop for Blacksmith quest.
In reply to AlexL1118:
Seeing how this isn't a collectible, it seems like an item you should add yourself via the "Custom" tab if you wish to track it.
