Rarity
NEW:
- Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

All activity is saved elsewhere so you can update the list without wiping any attempts, did wonder this myself when starting.
Just turn on repeatable for the fel-spotted eggs if you want to keep tracking them. Until you get all the mounts/pets.
Ending up giving each rare its own line for its fel-spotted egg so you can track on which you've killed. Good for those with many alts I think.
Allara is not getting updates from WowAce/Curse at this point. If you need to contact him, you'll have to rely on the email address given here somewhere (not sure if I can just post it, but it's in one of the older comments).
If you don't mind, I can look over your edit and add it to my own (updated) fork - GitHub link - which includes the new items if there is something I missed. I'll use that to update the official branch as soon as I get around to it.
The English phrases need to be added to the WowAce project site; the rest is mostly automated. That's something I'll get to after the other organizational aspects are sorted out :)
Unfortunately, it's become clear that I cannot maintain this addon. Patch 7.3 was too problematic, and the data submitted from users still takes too long to integrate and test, in addition to it causing multiple bug reports. At this time my life is too busy to be able to continue developing Rarity. I would be happy to be available to answer questions and walk through the code base for anyone who wants to take over the reins. Until such time, I must consider this addon abandoned.
I'm trying to track a new item (Blind Lake Lunker) and i'm having some issues with finding where to insert the fishing pool ID... I've created the item to track, added the zone and everything but the fishing pool and it doesn't track my casts. Can someone help me with some clues or an item pack that would work? This is what i've made so far with the item pack: 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
Is there a way to change an already tracked item? At the moment the mount Living Infernal Core only tracks drops from N, H & M and since this week it also drop from LFR but I can't manage to add the LFR option to the current track so I will have to create another count or wait til you update the addon with this change or can I do it somehow? I tried activating the check box that says LFR (10-30) but doesn't work :(
still no ETA on 7.3 mounts?? :D
I'm trying to track a specific item, I've gotten it to track in the majority of places I want to but Rarity doesn't seem to recognize Mount Hyjal as a zone.
My counter for defeated bosses is buggy. atm I farm Throne of 4 winds for the dragon of the southwinds but every kill on alakir makes the counter jump by 3 instead of 1...
Is that a general problem or does it only affect that specific encounter/raid?
I really loved this add on until the last three day. It was an add on I used several times a week for hours at a time. When I click on the mini map icon, I can see the mounts and toys listed but no battle pets. I use this add for the battle pet features. Now, I am disappointed because it does not do that. If this could be fixed I would be truly happy.
You may have accidentally collapsed the header in the tooltip. Click it to expand.
The header for battle pets does not even appear on the mini map icon The only headers I have are Mounts, Toys & Items, and Mount (Group). There is no header for battle pets. It was there four days ago.
Nothing changed. Are you getting any Lua errors?
I did not get an error of any type error when I signed on and open rarity. I checked to see if the items checked on the mount pages was the same as on the battle pet page and they were.
I can't replicate this either. There are "Battle Pets" and "Battle Pets (Group)" entries for me, tested on a new character to be sure.
Additionally, the last update was almost two weeks ago :P
Edit: After thinking on it, since battle pets are no longer marked as "repeatable" by default, that would be the only explanation. If they're not marked as repeatable and you already have them, "Track this" is unchecked automatically and it won't show in the tooltip. I've plenty of battle pets that I manually marked as repeatable over the years, so those do show because they are still being tracked.
Thank you Cakechart. I am a very happy feral druid. I did as you said. I checked them all as repeatable. They are showed up again. Thank you again for the help.
With the latest update the addon doesn't hide "defeated items" even if the option is checked. I know the addon is being worked on but I still thought I'd mention it.
I honestly hope you'll keep this addon running. Keep up the good work everyone who's working at this amazing addon!
Nothing changed here. I don’t have a WoW account, so I cannot test this feature. I’d someone else could, I would appreciate it.
Do you have an example? I have literally never paid attention to that feature, but if I know what I'm looking for I can test it.
