Table of Contents

Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications

I'm finding that I am posting here a lot as of late :P

I am using the outline feature around my text so it's easier on my eyes. Because of this, however, the lines run together slightly -- as in, they overlap vertically just a little bit. Is there a way to increase distance between lines/rows? Thanks!

I accidentally pulled the corner off the edge of my screen and now can no longer get the window to move. Kind of frustrating. A reset position button in the options menu would be awesome, so I don't have to reset my profile from scratch when this happens.

For some reason i only see the blue-head guy in the general chat window therefore the general tab is the only tab that i am able to click the icon to open the copy-chat window :(
I would very much like to know what i'm doing wrong cuse i would like to copy text from other tabs to.

I think it has something to do with the WoW defaults vs. what we tell Chatter to do (ie, color by class in so-and-so tabs/channels). One thing I realized is that I was pretty often seeing people in my party with gray names... even though I told the addon to color by class. Then I went into the actual chat settings (right click on tab, select "settings", not "chatter settings"). I noticed there that the "show class color" boxes were not checked. I checked party and party leader and now it's working just like I want it to. So again, not sure if this is some conflict between the two, or maybe Chatter just isn't making it happen on its own.

Via a quick look at the comments and asking a few friends who also use Chatter, I've realised this is a problem that a lot of people have. Chatter often displays a character's name in gray -- even my own, sometimes -- rather than the colour of their class. Is there any way I can fix this? It's a pain in the ass. D:

i have this addon but made a big mistake it seems. i clicked the "make noninteractive" thing in the tab, and now i cant click achievements or anyhting, its really annoying.. i have reinstalled it but it doesent work for some reason, what should i do?

Simply right click on your chat tab and click "Make Interactive". That should do it :)

Hello! Thank you for a wonderful addon :) I am currently using the CopyChat feature -- but I find that the icon for it is terrible (looks like the icon for the priest's ability "Fade"). I've been digging around in the files for a while now, but I can't seem to find a place to change this. Any tips? Thanks! :)

It sounds like you simply need to unlock and move the chat window. Try right clicking on your first chat tab and select "unlock window". You should then be able to move it around as you please (make sure to relock it when you are done).

IM using a laptop and for some reason i cant seem to move my chatter addon on the corner of my screen! i tried everything this is no f#@%ing option there! sorry if im just tired i wasted like 5 hours reading the tutorial i cant F@#$ing find it. PLEASE HELP ME!

Keep having this problem for several months now, though it might not be related to Chatter, but rather having several chat pullouts. However, if someone has a solution, please share it.

I keep logging in to find my chat windows not where I left them and stacked on top of one another. This is on 1.1.1-3.
I tried updating to the latest version, but this breaks Chatter due to some kind of fault with Stubby.

I'd post the error, but I have a document to write - I'll bring it up later if no-one else does.

I've downloaded this addon, i dont want to be at that place it already is. When i take the mouse over the box i done see a "General" box up in left cornor. So i can't move it. Please help me

I just updated it today and for some reason i cant right click the chat boxes anymore nor see any of the chat channels like guild trade etc nor write in whisper.
I cant find the any bout this in options what is wrong? And relogging doesnt help><

I got a problem.
When I'm in dalaran on my priest alt, and while flying, I move in and out of the no fly zones next to the well, I get a blank message in my chatwindow with a timestamp instead of the Warning: You are about to be dismounted message.

On my mage main I have the same exact addons loaded and the problem doesn't happen.

Also related, on my Druid alt (low level), when an NPC does an emote (particularly the ghost humans in eversong woods, when they pop evasion), i get a blank message instead of the emote
