Chatter
Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:
- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel
came here looking for the same thing, found the disable buttons option and messed around with it for a while. not sure what i did but after a couple UI reloads the social, emote, and scroll arrow buttons are now there on the left side. try different combinations of clicking, unclicking, and reloading. now that i check the settings the button i see the diable box is unclicked, but it took me a few tries for it to work. hope this helps :)
Hello! Minor bug report:
The Timestamp enabled setting does not seem to work across profiles. I have it unselected on my shared profile, and every new character, I have to set shared profile, then select to enable timestamp and then disable it again, for the setting to work :) All other settings seem to work fine though! good work! actually, excellent work!
I'm having an issue since updating. When in battlegrounds on instance chat, sometimes people's messages get cut off at a certain letter or even get cut off in the middle of the player's name. When that happens I just see blank space for the remainder of the line where there should be text. If their message happens to carry over to a second line, then I can see the remainder of their message. Quite odd.
Cheers!
Channel flashing is still happening even when disabled. Just FYI. :)
Any chance of looking at whats causing the taint, when receiving whispers?
If i need to switch glyphs / talents, and i have received a whisper since logging in, i have to reload. I can then immediately change glyphs / talents with no issues, but if i receive a tell before making the switches, the taint occurs again and i am forced to reload again.

Are you serious about this change?
Sounds for channelshighlights still not working. Just an fyi not a complaint. ^.^
Any way to get the Tabcomplete fuction to work properly for instances?
Since 5.1 I'm no longer able to get scrolling combat text messages that have my name in them. Previously I'd have them show up highlighted similar to how you see them in the chatbox. I'm not sure if this is a problem with my scrolling combat text mod (MSBT) or with Chatter, as Chatter is required for it to flag the messages, and MSBT is required for me to see the scrolls so I can't isolate it.
any idea yet on why the highlight's arent working any more ? shame that was the best part i liked about this addon !
I don't run this addon anymore because it is missing. I see no replies whatsoever to the issue. An "I'm working on it" or "can't be fixed" would be nice for those who take the time to post here for developer feedback.
Note, the fix isn't mine. It was posted by zerokoolin on wowace.com
I love this addon, but it keeps crashing and blocking things. Please fix this.
Channel sound highlights not working. I see someone else has same problem below.
How do you switch languages using this addon?
Error I keep getting on logon:

I get no errors when I log in. I have all the sub systems enabled.
I did find a problem with GroupSay portion. It was easy to fix.
There are new channels for instance and raid and both were listed as "/i" and "/ra" respecively... they should be "/i " and "/ra " (note the additoinal space) so when you do /gr and type hello it does this "/i Hello" instead of "/iHello"
I dont really understand what it does, should be something about channel colours. If you comment out lines from 59 to 64 in file ChannelColors.lua, error would not appear. Everything seems to be working.
Waiting for a REAL update...
