Chatter
Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:
- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel
Hi!
Two questions.
Does the tab flashing feature work for all tabs? I can't seem to get that working. For instance, I have a separate tab for all the guild channels, and it doesn't flash if I'm not at that tab and someone said something there.
Also, is there a way to turn off mouse wheel scrolling through tabs?
Thanks!
Any idea why invite links aren't working?
Not sure this is the right place for idea suggestions, but here it goes anyway.
I dont know whether it is possible at all, but I'd love to see an option to have the chat window to be adapted based on zone parameters.
e.g. When I fly into a major city I would like my chat window be a lot larger, so I can more easily follow any conversations that are going on (especially on busy servers it can be a pain to track a conversation), and when I am outside the city for the window to be small again so it is not in the way when I am going about questing / farming etc.
I can't seem to get Chatter to make play a sound when receiving an incoming whisper, for example. The Highlights module seems to provide this functionality, but I simply get nothing by going to Highlights/Custom Channel Sounds/Incoming Whisper and selecting a sound. Am I missing something or is the module not working properly?
Sometimes after login or after a bootscreen my second chattab is empty. Every setting are gone.
how can i disable the option that the chattabs come on top, when i loot or cross the zones?
Any idea why the class colours are not working? If you /who or shift click on them fine it saves them after but surely it should just auto get them like prat. Im liking the addon other than that and would like to keep using it.
@bardthebowman
Thank you, fixed!
I'm having an issue where the chat windows are underneath the rest of the UI on logon. If I switch tabs on a chat window they come back on top, but is there anyway to automate this process?
found a minor error in the GroupSay module
for the items for /instance, /raid, and /party the shortcode should be "/i "(add a space after the i)
same for party and raid. there needs to be a space after "/ra " instead of "/ra" etc
It's easy to correct manually in the LUA but should be added to the next update.
Is there any sort of ETA when routing highlights through MSBT will be fixed? I eagerly anticipate every update and it still doesnt seem to be fixed :( I can live without brackets around realid real names and only char names and or diablo/starcraft names but the highlight broadcasting through miks is the best thing i love about this addon. Other than that its a great addon!
Broadcast Highlights to MikSCT still doesnt function :( Tried enabling and disabling it without any luck. The last version I had where it still functions (but log offs dont function) is version Chatter-v.1.3.5-17-gd7a84e4
@Stanzilla, I'm running diffs on most of addon updates, to see what's changed. As you can see, I'm spotting quite some number of inconsistences now and then.
In this specific case, I was raising a concern about the code line removal. Though, all seems to be working fine so far.
@AnrDaemon
Not sure what you are talking about?
is there some sort of ReadMe file or somewere i can find how to do things? im mainly looking for a way to copy and link items without having to link it each time whne trying to buy sell or trade
Does anyone know if the message broadcasting for >Char Name< to Mik's is fixed yet? And how do I get my [ ] back on real names? like it used to say [Joe Schmo] [Charname] now it says Joe Schmo [Charname]? I tried to turn it off and back on and it doesnt add them. Thanks
is possible to use highlights without SCT on? i'm sure i was able to a wile ago but now don't seem to work
How is this configurable? I can't find a minimap button, it doesn't appear under addons, and there's no guide to what console commands open up options {"/chatter" doesn't work). All this talk of 'options' and 'toggles' and all I can use is the default settings.
It IS installed, I just got the auction "ding-ding-ding!" when I got a cross-faction /thanks from another player.
And lo, as this message procedes to go unnoticed as the many below mine do.
Hi mate, thanks for the best chat addon out there!
I wonder if you have any plans to make chat tabs more configurable?
I would love to be able to change the font and font size of them.
Great addon, but I do not see a the button for friends? I looked in the settings and could not find an option for that button. Any help?
Came here with the same thought. There was an option for hiding side buttons, but it seems broken, or i haven't noticed any difference on/off.
Hope to see a fix soon :D
