ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Getting the following error usually when first entering combat. Only fires once when entering combat. It reliably fires in raid each time I engage with the boss. Any ideas for stopping it? Doesn't cause any issues using ArkInventory at all. Thankyou so much for the addon!
not a frame i touch so its probably taint from somewhere thats spread through the shared libraries
see https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/wiki/Taint-and-ADDON_ACTION_BLOCKED
In reply to Arkayenro:
ahhh okay I did think it couldn't be ArkInventory because of the frame it is. thankyou for the link!
Thank you for the updates, been a user of the addon for years.
Can I disable that new behavior of the bags rearranging immediately after removing/moving items? It helped me in the past to not do that, to know which items I just moved into another bag.
I have my window sorting set to "On Window Open" but the sort function seems to be running any time any item in my bags changes (equip gear, use a consumable, etc). This seems like a recent change because I don't remember it doing that the last time I played about a week ago.
In reply to chodyo:
I also tried: change it to manual, /reload, move item from one category to another and it still instantly sorts the item back into the category.
In reply to chodyo:
Had the same problem multiple times. Always seems to be connected to Items.
First one was caged pets. Got rid of them
Second item was waiting for server response after 9.2 update. Still dont know what it really was.
Now its m+ keystones. If it was a Tazavesh keystone i would delete it but so...
If i transfer the specific items to my bank or inventory and manualy refresh the unwanted autosorting goes to bank or vice versa.
In reply to Supersoft16:
Hmm, strange. I haven't had that exact problem - what I'm seeing is that the sorting method runs on *everything*.
In reply to chodyo:
Just had to perform item recovery :/ somehow my tier set pants had gotten swapped out for a grey ilvl 100 piece - probably got under my mouse due to an unexpected sort, equipped without noticing, then my auto sell rule swept up the pants before I noticed. Obviously there's a lot I can do to prevent this from happening but the new behavior is less than ideal.
In reply to chodyo:
Having same issue as you. Bags are resorting when I sell stuff to vendor after clicking each item.
In reply to chodyo:
Having the same issue! Tried the things people did below, plus a few more then threw the M+ key in the bank and the backpack went back to normal!!
In reply to chodyo:
I'm seeing the same issue with the latest update; I think I'm going to go back to the prior version - its really irritating to have things shift around like this!

try 30965 alpha 1 and see if that fixes the mythic keystone and sorting issue
In reply to Arkayenro:
Just updated to try it out. Sorting issue is still around (everything is sorting immediately still), but in addition there's a good deal of items that aren't sorting at all and the addon is spamming 1/sec:
please try 30965 alpha 2
In reply to Arkayenro:
I can't easily roll back with my addon manager so I rolled fwd to 30966 and I'm not seeing the issue any more. Thank you so much for the quick turnaround on this!
In reply to chodyo:
Having same issue and can confirm it may be likely related to the M+ keystone.
First, after update, the keystone is assigned to "System > [0429] Unknown" instead of "System > [0451] Mythic Keystone"
Second, enabling "Debug" shows this message on a 2-sec timer in chat "ArkInventory: DEBUG> item not ready while scanning [3, 19] [Keystone: Mists of Tirna Scithe (4)]"
I hope that helps ...
yeah, keystones always end up being painful as while they are a completely separate object type they link back to an underlying item
