ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
take backups of the saved variables file, your item data will be out of date if you need to restore but your config will be there as most people dont change their config once they get it set they way they want.
but you should still take a backup once a month at least, just in case
I love this addon but can't figure out how to enable it for everything except bag, bank and guild bank.
Also for the people interested: Here's how I configured my bags.
if the override option is greyed out then the arkinventory interface for that location doesnt do everything the blizzard one does so i dont allow it to be overridden.
for the locations you dont want arkinventory to deal with go to config > control > location > override and untick it. it will then use the blizzard interface for that location.
if you dont want to save the data for that location untick the save option on that same page
No, it's the other way around: I WANT ArkInventory to control things like the battle pet journal, but override is grayed out for everything except bag, bank and guild bank.
Your bag setup looks awesome :D much better and cleaner then the screenshots supplied by the addon. I was wondering,. how did you get bars Below the "main bag" ?
neeveerrmind. im stupid. i can select other numbers to be the default bag.
just leaving this comment up for other people that perhaps have the same question
do your other addons store data for the hundreds, potentially thousands of items you have on all your characters across all their bags, banks, currencies, etc, etc. pets and mounts alone are easily at least a couple of hundred.
take a look at the size of the saved variable file, that should give you some idea of the base amount of data that needs to be stored in memory, then add all the temporary storage required for calculating the layout and local caches for faster processing.
This Addon is a MASSIVE Memory hog, anything you can do about it^^
I concur. Please is there anything that you can do about the memory usage? This is by far my mod with the most mem usage. More than double of any of my other addons.
Thank you.
me no, you sure. disable saving of the characters data, then the database wont contain all the data for the other toons and will use less memory.
is your machine running out of memory?
I did that but it's still grows up to 5x the memory usage of my other addons.
No thats not it, it isnt really a Problem, i just noticed that most of the Time Ark uses more Memory than ElvUi and Weak Auras combined and i want to keep my Memory Load low :)
But your advice helped, thx :)
sorry, no virtual stacks. best you can do is hide stacks of the same item when theres more that a certain number of stacks of it
Is it possible to combine 5 stacks of 20 items into 1 one bag slot of 100?
I LOVE this addon, but I am struggling to keep the size of the inventory managable for my screen resolution.
My bank was BARELY fine and now the addition of the reagants tab, it's way too big, none of the Window options are working. I have even tried sliding the "Scale" bar all the way down to almost 0% and nothing has changed.
youll probably have to set the height value in the config so it only gets that large, if it needs to be larger than what youve set it will scroll instead
I'm having a problem.
When I try to use the Search Feature that searches for items across all my characters, nothing happens.
I type in an item (like Ore for example) and nothing pops up in the search results window for any toon, even the one I'm on.
I have removed and re-installed ArkInventory from addons folder...I"m not sure what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated.
edit: I just noticed that the problem is different than what I though, despite trying to update from 3.05.00 to 3.5.11, it's stuck... wow doesn't seem to be loading the new version.
Any idea what to do?
UPDATE 8/13/15 : PROBLEM FIXED
"Hey, thanks for the response.
Although I did have a second version, that wasn't the issue, but it helped me see what WAS the issue.
The Rules and Config Folder were not updating; they were still on old versions. So I deleted all ArkInventory related folders, and reinstalled, and that fixed it.
Thanks again."
Since you're having version issues, any chance you have two copies of WoW installed and you're putting the addon in the wrong one?

Is there a way to pick out if something is Baleful with a rule? I've looked in the debug info, but I haven't seen anything that's unique to the Baleful items. I tried using iLvl 675, but that started picking up crafted items.
If it's helpful, on the web API, a bonus list entry of 652 or 653 seems to indicate Baleful. I think one is the purchased version and one is looted. Or maybe one is soulbound and the other is b.net bound.
Also, 647, 648 and 651 represent the iLvl of the item (650, 695, 675 respectively).
What I'm trying to do is not sell a Baleful item that could be upgraded after I replace it with something.
Edit: Added more numbers for better clarity.
