ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
its in the options, under global > tooltips > item counts and gold amounts
same when searching as it displays all items, but the tooltip is what shows the item counts. eg if you dont show the opposite faction for tooltips then you wont see an item count for those characters (even if they have the item)
Some time ago, I looked through the tickets list as my way of helping.
Could you look through them? If you begin with the many old ones, you will find they can be closed quite easily.
There's even a recent patch.
If you can begin this, I will be happy to follow up on tickets you comment on, to discuss outstanding issues with other users or try to reproduce them.

The number of items on bags just disapeared...Can anyone help??
Is there an option to adjust the font size of the bar labels (names)?
I have taken a look at the Github wiki and was wondering if there is a place that can better inform me of what the function arguments are. Fore example, tt(), can be put here? Is it just string text or can I search for a color in the case of an item I cant equip? Or pt() is there a place to find what is on the Periodic Table? Thanks
tt is an alias for tooltip, its a text search
pt is an alias for periodictable (which is another addon), it will only work if you have that loaded, it too is a text search. if you have the addon loaded the item debug should show you the categories it is listed under
both rule functions are in the wiki under https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/wiki/RuleFunction
It still gives moderate CPU usage here if yielding is set to 1. Isn't there a way to just disable it in combat other than unloading the addon entirely? I'd like to avoid the Addon Control Panel addon since it has bad code that gives taint messages.
This would be good addon. However i am having several Issues. after having assigned a item ( Herbs ) to a slot. It does not move all of them and sometimes it will move them back to where i setup a junk area
Sometimes the default category on an item is incorrect - make sure you set the right category (in config mode) on any herbs that are not automatically moved to the assigned slot.
For my personal bank, I can only get sections 1 - 5 working. 6 - 10 are completely unresponsive, can't assign anything to them.
Is this addon supported anymore? Github looks dead and obviously curse comments go unanswered. Noticing behavior that might just be a result of an out of date addon (like Restack saying "fuck your rules, i'm tossing everything into bar 1")
im still around but wow is sot of boring so im not playing a lot at the moment. i also didnt get beta access this time around so obviously ive got no reason to be playing wow at the moment
I've been using this addon now for many years and it's hands down my favorite inventory addon. I have a second account and getting item counts from the second account while on the first seems to be a foolhardy endeavor. Altoholic will only share one direction between my accounts for some reason, and I cannot find any option in Ark for multiple accounts.
Am I wasting my time trying to figure this out since the saved variables are in separate folders since it's separate accounts, or is there really some magic that can work this?
people have found weird ways to get it to work but the game stores each accounts data in different locations which means theres no visibility between the accounts at the in-game level.
i dont have multiple accounts so while i could potentially code up an in-game sync i have no way to test if it works or not
I'm not sure if I'm having addon conflicts here, but for whatever reason Ark's item counts are no longer showing int the tooltip for components of a crafting item in the crafting window (I'm using Tradeskill Doublewide) I could swear it used to show in there.... or I could just be loosing it! :P Just wanted to see if other people are having this issue in their craft frames, be it default or otherwise.
Second thing, some items are not showing up in count AT ALL anywhere (only noticed equipable items so far). Example, Mark of Supreme Doom from Kazzak, my DKs LFR set pieces don't show count either, along with some others that I can't think of off the top of my head.
Anyone else seeing these issues? I have a lot of addons so conflicts are extremely possible, so I just like to check in with other ppl :)
I've come back to the game after some time away. This was the first addon I re-installed, as it's extremely valuable. However, I notice that now all of the categories have numbers in front of them? This causes the categories to sort by number, as opposed to alphabetical order. Is there a specific reason for this? Is there any way to revert back to using just the names? Likewise, the professions appear twice when assigning a category; once under Skill as they should, and then the same list appears under the heading Empty.
Hello, is there any options to move new items to separate bar? Or for highlighting new objects ? At this moment I need time to find new items if I have full bags and this is very needed option
I'm trying Edit mode > System > 0446.New items but doesn't work for me.
Thanks!
My tooltip for item count and gold amounts is showing old info for characters I have renamed/deleted and guild banks for guilds that I am not longer in. Is there an item count reset/purge option, so I can clear all of that and generate current info by logging in each character?
Whoops.. just found it under character switch, sorry!! :D
Hi!
I've been toying with the SavedVariables file, and when I *thought* I finally understood its entire structure, I tried to make one from scratch (can add details if interested).
ANYWAY. I thought that the item syntax was ["item:113264:0"], where the first item is the item's ID and the second number is a flag. That flag, though... I thought it indicated if an item could stack (1 = 'unique' items, as in items that do not stack, and 0 = stackable items). And I was right... until i found that, for example, Primal Spirits (ID 120945) are stored as ["item:120945:1"]. What does the flag mean, then?
Is there any documentation I can check about the SavedVariables.lua internal structure?
Thanks! :)
