ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
from the files tab

Oh, you updated 30964 with that .1 change? Because that's all I see.
In reply to Arkayenro:
Well, I downloaded the latest Arkinventory with the latest TipTac and the errors still appear. Maybe I'm not getting the right version of Arkinventory after all.
I'm seeing more and more Soulbound equipment with the default System > [402] Junk. Seeing this in both Classic TBC and Retail. Wasn't sure if this was intentional or something crazy going on in my settings?
Was curious if there was logic that did this to Soulbound equipment that couldn't be equipped, but today I see it with a ring that I can equip and a couple more items I can equip once I reach 60.
i think theres an option in there somewhere about soulbound equipment you cant wear being categorised as junk, i thought it was disabled by default but double check in the config
Hallo!
Happy Holidays everyone!
I seem to be encountering this weird issue:
1) Obtain new toy
2) Add toy to collection
3) Use toy
4) Get message that ArkInventory has been blocked from an action only available to the Blizzard UI <- or something similar, I didn't capture the exact wording.
Reload UI and everything is fine until the next toy addition. This is obviously hard to track down as I don't have a ton of toys to add. Next time I get a toy, I'll try disabling all addons except AI before adding it.
Be safe everyone.. and thanks for the years of a great addon Arkayenro.
toy usage is a protected function so ai can no longer be used to "use" a toy. if you try you should get a warning about it and told to drag it to an action bar instead
Hi. After updating via curseforge app -- https://imgur.com/a/9txsruw on every launch. Even if I remove addon and settings and reinstall it. Update button fixes problem, but next start curseforge app -- same warning. BCC wow is not installed, only retail.
sorry, i cant help with installer issues, youd need to contact curse/overwolf
there are client specific tagged files (for releases, alphas are generic) so the installers can tell them apart, if they cant then im not sure what else i can do from my side
In reply to Arkayenro:
So after a refresh the description under the ArkInventory title says "ArkInventory-3.09.61-BurningCrusade.zip" even though I'm looking at my WoW Retail addons list. Just to clarify, you are saying this is a CurseForge issue with reading your tags, correct? I have put in a support ticket with CurseForge with screenshots of the issue.
yes. if its downloading the burningcrusade file for retail then the installer is screwy, theyre also not my tags, theyre curses tags, i just select them from a dropdown
check the files tab, you can clearly see that each 3.09.61 file is tagged for only one specific game client
the only files i dont tag with a specific client (i tag it with all three) are the alphas
its the exact same file for all three clients anyway, so it shouldnt matter which one they do download for my mod, but some mods are specific
In reply to Arkayenro:
Got it. Thanks for replying so quickly. I love ArkInventory.
<p>Hi, every time I log in I'm getting a pop up asking me to name Guild Bank Tab 1 (and to choose an icon). It seems to be produced by ArkInventory as it doesn't appear when I disable the addon, but I can't find any settings for this in the addon itself. The pop up disappears if I name the tab and choose an icon but doesn't ask for any other tabs / icons, and there doesn't appear to be any change to my guild bank. It then reappears on login. (EDIT for clarity: also, seems to have been produced by a recent build, in the last couple of weeks perhaps.)</p>
see https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1531
appears to be an issue with the elvui skinning module for the guild bank
In reply to Arkayenro:
Thanks, sorry should have checked Github.
I just had an error thrown in 9.1.5

finally :) thanks for this, i've never been able to reproduce it so couldnt tell where it was coming from, now i know whats causing it and it should be fixed in the next release.
it turns out that while its rebuilding the item count data, sometimes the item count data is erased from underneath it. i just get it to check now and if thats happened to go back and start again.
This addon has CPU usage during combat (even when the bags are closed). There should be at least an option to be eliminated; most users interested in performance during combat would use the option.
In case you don't believe it: get the "addon usage" addon and enable "CPU usage" and reset it during combat.
In reply to epigramx:
Yeah I have same issue. Have to disable the addon during raid.
