ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua

Ah, unfortunate but I understand.
Also, thank you for the outfit addon suggestions, greatly appreciated. Have a great day :)
More a question, because I can't find a setting for it - if you have assigned a grey item to a custom category and have auto-sell junk turned on, will it treat the item in the custom category as junk?
Asking because I'm collecting items for the Babbuleworms coming in 9.1 and all the items you need are greys.
yeah, thats fixed in one of the latest alphas. ie if you assign a grey item to a category (custom or system) it will no longer be automatically sold - not unless that category has autosell enabled
In reply to Arkayenro:
Apologies for the reply, Curse is giving me an error posting a fresh comment.
Using this in TBC and the rules for gear dont work as they do in retail. For example:
type( "armor" ) and subtype( "cloth" )
This isnt allowing me to assign gear to the catagory I want. Is this a TBC thing with gear or something Im missing?
ta
you dont assign gear to a rule per se, it collects matching items. you can assign items to custom categories.
a rule with that formula seems to be working ok for me, are you sure you have enabled the rule and assigned it to a bar?
do the items show as being cloth in the debug menu?
How do i export my settings and import them to another pc?
copy ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua into the same location on the new machine
you can then clear out all the character data via config > accounts
Hi there,
I am trying to use this mod with new classic TBC.
But the sorting interface seems problematic.
I uploaed 2 screenshots to my google drive. One is TBC sorting interface. The other one is the retail sorting interface I see it on my retail toons.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QLcD-9Kz1x2oBulOtnMbvV76vNL9OqEw?usp=sharing
If anyone can enlighten me if it is a bug or something?
you have not added any sort methods yet in tbc, just type in a name for the sort method, hit enter, then set it up
In reply to Arkayenro:
Thx.
I'm getting the following error everytime I log onto one of my chars.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it doesn't help.

update prat to whichever version works for the game client you are using
In reply to Arkayenro:
Ok thanks for the info.
I will have to wait because there is no updated Prat version yet for TBCC.
In reply to mintik:
You can find a fix in the comments.
In reply to Arkayenro:
Hey, in TBCC the newly added 7th Bank Slot is missing and the version is still showing out of date ingame, any fixes possible? Thank you very much!
bank slot is fixed in one of the latest alphas, and no, the toc will remain at whatever retail wants (as theres only one version of arkinventory) and most people already have load out of date addons enabled anyway.
Burning Crusade install: Although completely up to date for Burning Crusade, the in-game Add-ons enable/disable list shows it as being "out of date" so you have to check "Load out of date add-ons" to use it. The CurseForge app even says it belongs to Retail. In spite of this, ArkInventory seems to work just fine. Just as well, because I love this add-on and have been using it for a very long time.
theres only ever one version of arkinventory. i dont change it for each game type so it will be "out of date" for classic and bc, just tick the load out of date addons option (which uyou typically have to do anyway)
the alpha versions are tagged to run under all game versions. once i make it a normal version i tag it individually (but its still the exact same version)
Hey I may be missing something, but since the most recent version the item quality borders have become a lot more dull. Is there an option to increase them back to their old brightness?
They used to look like what my elv skinned character frame icons look like

But now they're much less vibrant
check the item border settings, theres an alpha value you have control over
