ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
sorry, the upgrade code for 3.0.7 was looking for profiles and didnt sanity check if there were any to begin with so its barfing because you have no profiles.
i'll fix it in the next alpha/relase but if you want to you can try this
edit the arkinventory.lua again and add this line
["profiles"] = { },
directly underneath this line (which should be the first line in the file)
ARKINVDB = {
then save it and try again
I have a problem in Classic and wondered if anyone else has the same problem.
I have created separate "groups" for professions, food & drink, ammo etc. and added the categories to those groups. Sadly, the items don't automatically go into those groups when I open the bags again, and refresh doesn't seem to work. I have tried various things and eventually it will show them in the right groups but it never works for the same options every time. For example, I can click on a vendor and the groups aren't correct. I will select each of the options at the top (such as refresh and bag changer) and it will the refresh the groups. I'll go to another vendor and the same things won't cause it to refresh. Closing and opening the bags a few times will eventually refresh it. When I open my bank, everything is clumped together and then I will take something out my bank and it will refresh, another time It won't. Seems a very random problem.
Hope that made sense.
if clicking on refresh always fixes it then you have sorting set to manual. you can set the sorting to on bag open but just realise that while they will be nicely sorted it will suck up cpu every time you open the bags (even if they didnt need to be resorted),
In reply to Arkayenro:
Sorry, I think you misunderstand.
I am giving examples of what I am pressing to try and get the items into their groups when the bags are open because it's not automatically happening when I open the bags.. In otherwise not clicking the same things in the same order each time because getting them in the right groups doesn't occur clicking on the same things.
My point is that when I open my bags, the items aren't always in their correct groups. It is very random. Sometimes I will open them and they are all in the same group, and the next time they are in the correct groups (this is with no changes to which items are in the bags). What I would expect is that when you open the bags, everything shows up in the group that they are assigned to, and they aren't every time.
config > settings > design > the design you have assigned to the bag > window > style > sorting
is that set to manual, on bag open, or instantly?
if its set to manual then items will not move unless refresh is clicked, or some event triggers a full resort.
if set to on bag then is resorts when the bag is opened each time
if its set to instantly then it will resort on every single item change
In reply to Arkayenro:
But that's the problem. Sometimes it sorts into groups when you open and sometimes it doesn't. If the sorting option was set to manual I would have to refresh every time, it wouldn't do it automatically at all. I have it set to On Window Open.
could you go to the issues link and open an issue for this there.
trying to find your comments in this thing is painful and they are easy to miss
In reply to Arkayenro:
Okay, I will do that in the morning and try and get screenshots to show what I mean.
The rules with tsmgroup() work.
The rules woth tsm() still generate the
ERROR>Error validating rule [n1]. invalid formula: \AddOns\TradeSkillMaster\LibTSM\Util\SmartMap.lue:[n2]: No value for key (item:[n3]::::::::)
Since this is the same error as previously with tsmgroup(), I think a same sort of solution needs to be applied for tsm().
The quick fix for the tsmgroup() has been appreciated!!! Now looking forewards towards the tsm() fix.
Thanks for creating and maintaining this mod.
ah crap, will be in the next release
I've noticed that ArkInventory v3.09.03 was the last version to be marked as for Classic v1.13.2.
Any plans to mark the more recent versions as compatible with Classic, else the Twitch Client won't offer the addon as an update when new versions are released.
if i mark them as both retail and classic capable in curseforge then twitch wont see them at all so i've left them at retail so it at least works for that.
i lodged a ticket with twitch a couple of weeks back and havent had any reply at all so i dont think they overly care about the issue.
i can mark the older versions with both and you can check if they show up in classic. if they do i can start marking them for both
In reply to Arkayenro:
Still not showing latest version (3.09.06) in Twitch client for classic. Last available version that Twitch client shows for classic is v3.09.03
Had to install latest version manually for classic
I do see some add-ons that are available for both retail and classic use a -classic in file name (ie: WIM-3.8.4-classic.zip for classic & WIM-3.8.4.zip for retail). Hope this information may help with the issue.
How do I open the keyring with ark in wow classic?
will be in the next release now that its in classic
In reply to Arkayenro:
Just got the update, I don't see where to open the keyring? Is there a button I'm missing?
you can set a keybinding or use the glasses/goggles (locations) icon and select it from there
In reply to Arkayenro:
Is there a way to transfer my profile / saved variables from ArkInvClassic to ArkInv? ArkInvClassic is bugging out, so I swapped it over but now I have to redo all my rules.
In reply to Arkayenro:
I see the keyring under locations, and I can open it, but it only shows 4 slots and I can't move any keys to it. Am I missing something?
(retail) I had some rules that used tsmgroup. TSM (their client) and other addons (twitch update) should all be up to date. Now arkinventory has quit working and I see errors like
...ArkinventoryRules.lua:219: ... Addons\TradeskillMaster\LibTSM\Util\SmartMap.lua:79 No value for key ([Raptor Head])
Is this an Ark issue or TSM issue? And if it is TSM, what can I say so they don't dismiss it as an Ark issue?
TIA
