ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
AI doesnt touch the mainmenubar so its probably taint from one of the libraries. see https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/wiki/Taint-and-ADDON_ACTION_BLOCKED if you want to work out which mod actually caused it.
Is there a way to change expansion designation for items? Looking in the debug menu, all mats were either listed as 0 or 7, so I'm not able to write a rule to separate mats by expansion.
no, thats set by blizzard
Will there be a version of this mod that will work for classic? It is my GO TO bag mod, I absolutely love it, but I'm gonna be ditching the retail in favor of classic.
In reply to horologue:
Agreed,
Please let us know
In reply to horologue:
yeah, i need this in classic =D
it doesnt look like theres any easy way to make them coexist within the same addon - too much is being reverted so it would most likely need to be stripped apart and rewritten to work in classic, and im not sure i have the time to do that, or keep two separate code streams running if i do.
if they dont screw around with the API like they have been doing with every new release and this stays in classic mode, with an essentially unchanging API, then it might be worth the effort
In reply to Arkayenro:
Just throwing this out there, but I would be willing to contribute to a patreon or any platform you would like. That is how reliant on your mod I am.
In reply to Arkayenro:
What exactly is being reverted? The API itself is essentially supposed to be using the modern API afaik. I know there are several mods for BFA that work out of the box for Classic.
early alpha version for classic, presuming its visible to you (it might not be approved)

In reply to Arkayenro:
It's still not a working link. It's too bad, I would have loved to test it for you before the end of this stress test. I've been using ArkInventory FOREVER -- I can't imagine playing without it honestly. Right now I've been suffering with ElvUI's bags module...lol.
In reply to Arkayenro:
I am so very appreciative right now! Thank you!
ArkInv is causing the icon for mount equipment to disappear in the mount journal.
nope, its not. AI doesnt touch the journal pages.
did you do any testing at all, or just decide to blame the first mod that comes to mind?
btw, if its what i think it is, thats either working as intended or its a blizzard bug. the mount item you put in that slot disappears but the buff remains. if youd like to test that disable all your addins and see if the item is displayed, i dont think it will be.
Can anyone help me, I've named the section of the bag to e.g. "Equipment", "Consumables" etc, to give them a name, but I want the name to be shown at the top, and they are not showing, how can I make them show? thanks.
config > settings > designs > your design being used > bars > style > name > position = top
you also turn them on there as well (cant tell if you've done that already or not)
same for alignment, size and colour
I've been using the fix that got uploaded to GitHub on march 14th since it got uploaded. None of the newer versions seem to work.
theres no code on github for arkinventory so im not sure what you mean?
you also dont say what the issue is/was
https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1149
That Github link.
And it's a little hard to describe what the issue is when it doesn't work at all. But here's the log. Also there's a message saying "Failsafe kicked in - aborting arkinventory translation due to an error of some sort"
