ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
sounds like somethings gone wrong with one of the files.
delete all the arkinventory folders and re-install
In reply to Arkayenro:
Ok, thank you. I will do that when I get home from work!
Even with all addons turned off all Addons turned off when i try to add something to a new category or anything in edit mode i have to reload ui after each change. Any thoughts would be appreciated
its an issue with the new 8.2 api, theyve changed setpoint to secure it but its not supposed to be affecting UIParent but somehow it is
Yea I just saw something about it on the Ark github page
This seems to be fixed with the newest alpha build (832). Thanks, Arkayenro for the hard work!
i'll bump the alpha to release tomorrow morning if theres no other issues
I currently have a problem with the thickness of my borders, instead of 1px ..well they are gigantic :D
Edit:
As far as I can tell it's because I downloaded a current version of "AddonSkins" pushed by a dev from the repository to counter a few of the other lua.errors.
Is there a way to delete/purge a character from the database? In the saved settings there are still characters I have deleted, but I cannot find an option in the UI to remove them.
this will get rid of the vast majority of the characters data, there may still be a small amount left over but not really enough to worry about
https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/wiki/UserGuide_HowTo_EraseData
note that there has to be some of that windows/locations data saved for the character to appear in the menu, so doing it from the bag window is probably the better option
worse case you can use a text editor like notepad++ that knows how to collapse sections and delete the chunks manually - just make sure the game is not running when you do it - and make a backup first
In reply to Arkayenro:
Yeah, I opened the file with notepad++ and saw all that additional data, I even deleted some chunks - but then I decided it's better to ask for the 'right' way :)
Which, today with 8.2, works only for the first time I open the menu, but gives an ERROR after that. I need to /reload and then works again for the first time only.

Hey, I hope its okay to ask here but are you planning to have a WoW Classic compatible version of Ark Inventory? I am really hoping so, I can't imagine not having this addon anymore XD
EDIT: Er, I see that this has already been asked. Ignore this post, sorry.
Hey there,
I've been a fan of your add on for years now, and I wanted to take a moment to:
1) Say thank you.
2) Ask if you intend to make the add on functional for Classic?
Thanks again for this fantastic tool!
In reply to cobaltadin:
1) youre welcome
2) no sure, depends on how much the API changes
After I edit a bar (assigning a rule or a category) all my items stays invisible(tooltip still works) and only a /reload will make them reappear. Using the reload or refresh button wont work.
In reply to Forge_User_76679004:
pretty sure i dont touch the spellbook so read this https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/wiki/Taint-and-ADDON_ACTION_BLOCKED
is there a way to devide specific armor pieces in different bags?
i want the armor that is linked to my protection set in the equipment manager to be in a separate bag,
aswell as the armor that is linked to my fury set in the equipment manager.
thanks.
