ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
that sounds more like its missing one of the libraries. make sure twitch is setup to download the libray variant (unless youre specially wanting the no-lib one)
delete all arkinventory folders, then re-install
and the obvious - make sure the game is not running when you do this
Thank you!
Of course it ends up being something to simple as to delete all folders manually and reinstalling.
I thought the twitch application did Just That. I guess I was wrong.
It updated and isn't giving any errors as of yet. And my profile didn't get reset. Thanks again!
The moment I open up toggle location, my fps drops from 100 to 6 or 7, and stays there until I /reload ui
Weird, can you fix it please.
Is it possible to have a profile for a specific alt that the bags are designed to hold items from the other characters ?
I created "Ressane" to be a bank storage for all my "in use chars", for their excess items, held in their bank slots.
I edited a bag for each of my toons, and is it possible for these items to go direct to that players "bag", regardless of the standard, default, or custom rules already created for the item?
Bag 5 is assigned to "Actos", so all Actos items are sent to Bag 5.
Bag 4 is assigned to "Sabrus", so all "Sabrus" items are sent to Bag 4, etc.
I created a custom configuration and manually set, for example Platinum Ore, to Actos, because it is my mining toon.
However, ALL Platinum Ore from anyone is now going to Actos' bag, instead of the other character's bag that originally "owned" it...
theres nothing item based to check for ownership so your only option would be a profile (especially the category and layout blueprints) that is only assigned to that bank toon and you put things into bars based on the other toons
I can assign a bar to a specific toon? That would be perfect.
Thank you.
manually, and not based on anything arkinventory can automatically do (as i said, items have no character properties)
eg, you want all items for character Zed on bar 1 then you need to manually assign them there
Thank you. That was what I started doing last night. I assigned "Actos", bags 3 and 4 in Bar 2. And I just manually moved things to that section. Ended up being a PITA, so I stopped. :)
I have to recopy the arkinventory files into the addons folder every time after I shut the game down and exit battle net. It works fine if I do that, but it will not load on it's own. Any ideas?
delete the arkinventory folders and reinstall? not sure why they would constantly corrupt
I've done that and it still happens
sorry, not sure. maybe try moving the folders somewhere else (in case the files keep going into a corrupted sector) and then reinstall.
the only think i can think of would be an antivirus or malware program changing them as there nothing the game could do, nor is there anything in the code (its all text files, no executables)
I have a problem new Custom Category, it is set to Disabled and I can't find any way to change it. I have had this problem before but can't remember how I solved it. Help. Please.
go into edit mode and when you put it on a bar you can enable it from there (at least thats how i think i set it up, not in game at them moment)
Hey, not sure why, but my Default background color is green, and i have ben in the settings, and tryed to change a lot of stuff, but none of them works.
I can go in manually on every one, and change the color as you can see did that one one, but wonder where it went wrong?
thats probably the bar background texture (not colour). if textures dont exist you get green
could also be the default bar background colour is set to green and youve set one of the bars with a custom background colour (blue?)?
default bar background colour is in the profile - config > settings > design > your design > bars > style > background
single bar override is - edit mode > bar number icon > colour > background
hehe, damn yeah seams like i had "f.ed" up a little there, ita all great again :D
Thx for the reply!
P.S.
I decided to go back to the version 3.0.25 so I could use Arkinventory even though I can't change anything. I wanted to make a category for "Tinkers", maybe you can add that, but if not, I will make a custom category when all is fixed and working.
Again, thank you for this addon.
I really love this addon, but it's still not working for me. I downloaded the Alpha (832) and Arkinventory doesn't open up at all. I will keep checking back, because it is one of my favorite addons.
Thanks for all your hard work.
