ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Updated today and it's broke again.
In reply to Neozz1:
updated to what version? and how? what error message?
Everything seems to be working pretty well since the 8.1.5 patch release update. I haven't received any Swatter! errors, but when I try to clean up my personal bank using the Blizzard cleanup rules I get a Blizzard UI error "item is locked". I do not get this error when I switch to the Arkinventory cleanup. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is. I've just never seen it before. It happens even when the bank is completely empty with no bags, leaving me to believe it is a reagent bank issue.
Thanks.
In reply to nomisuke:
the cleanup code is blizzard, the restack is mine
it looks like its a timing issue with the bank sorting, reagent deposit, then reagent bank sort not having enough time for the item locks to be released. i'll have to see if theres a way to add a delay in after each one
In reply to Arkayenro:
I see. I never noticed that "Clean Up Bank" and "Clean Up Reagent Bank" were two separate commands. I always just thought it was a one-button act. However, I can see why players might not want to have their reagents messed with if they have a rather OCD way of stacking, which is why Blizzard probably disabled the ability to do both at once. I honestly don't care and would rather have everything sorted all at one time.
Is there a way to either add another cleanup button to the bank (one for reagents and one for bags) or trigger a popup that asks if you want to restack the bank or the reagent bank since doing both at the same time seems to be throwing up this "item is locked" error? I know that might be asking for a lot. Or it could be something as simple as increasing the timing between cleaning up one and then the other, if that's even an option.
Thanks.
In reply to nomisuke:
i added a 0.2 and 0.4 second delay after each action which seems to be ok and lets it work without the error, its in one of the latest alphas
In reply to Arkayenro:
Many thanks. I wonder why Blizzard insists on moving actions like that to the backend? Are they having an issue with duping again? Who knows. So long as they fixed banks and the AH from their end, I'm happy. I appreciate everything you do.
Since the update I have that strange issue that bar-titles are not discplayed correctly.
Example:
Bar 1 has set the name "Bar1". However, when I open my bag it displays another title, most of the times a title from another bar, for example "Bar2".
Closing and re-opening the bags mostly fixes it.
When I open config-manu to check if the titles were overwritten: they weren't. Settings still are correct, arkinventory just does not display what I have set there.
Someone encountered that as well?
In reply to paradocx:
same here
In reply to paradocx:
yep, theyve screwed up somehow, will try and work out why
edit: found the problem, will be fixed next alpha/release
In reply to Arkayenro:
Great news, thank you! (-:
patch 3.08.23 is working mostly fine with me. The bags and deposit/withdraw in the guild bank doesn't. Still happy with it.
In reply to Sonofdar:
those should work ok. you might want to delete the arkinventory folders and re-install
i did find an issue with the info log and the changer window though which will be fixed next release
I used the Quick Fix: https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1149 after the addon stopped working as a result release of patch 8.1.5 and that fixed my problems at the time being, but after the release of the new version today the addon stopped working again.
I first tried to just install the update normaly and then noticed the issues.
After that I tried re-applying the Quick Fix, with no success for my addon.
I then tried to manualy remove the two files from the hotfix, delete and re-install the addon to the newest version, still no cigar...
- Is this new version (3.08.23) working for anyone else?
---------------------------
Edit: Once I read zaiats_2k's reply about turning off "Install Libraries Seperately" that fixed all my issues once I re-innstalled the addon, again.
In reply to Epiqpriest:
weird, it should work with and without libraries, unless its not actually installing a library it needs, or those havent been updated?
In reply to Epiqpriest:
Same exact problem happened to me after installing the update a few minutes ago on Twitch.
In reply to Epiqpriest:
Updating via Twitch did not work, however manual download and extracting / overwriting old files seems to have worked.
In reply to mradicsh:
Just wanted to confirm that this was the case for me too. The option "Install Libraries Separately" was enabled for ArkInventory - turning this off and clicking update again seems to correct the issue.
I'm not sure why this would be set. It doesn't seem to be for other addons individually, and the overall setting in Twitch is set to off. Anyway, try unchecking this by right clicking on ArkInventory individually and hopefully it'll work again. (You'll need to restart wow as the file structure will change.)
PS - @Arkayenro - thanks as ever for the update. And thanks to @Koviko for keeping us sane in the meantime!
3.08.23 should be available and should work ok with 8.1.5 but there may be some issues i didnt notice (this was just a quick fix to get it out there)
and a very big thankyou to @Koviko for helping everyone out while i was away on holiday
In reply to Arkayenro:
Thank you so much for updating this awesome addon. I think it is my favorite addon in the game, and I use quite a few. :)
I missed it so much, but hope you had a wonderful holiday. Congrats on doing such a great job with this addon.
So far it's working fine.
