ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Thanks for all your hard work with the updates :D :D
Is there a way to set a fixed position from which the inventory grows in size if necessary?
Use case:
In reply to Forge_User_76679004:
you can set a fixed width for each bar but the number of items will always shift things around height wise
if you mean the overall window then set the window anchor point to the corner you want locked in place and it will grow the opposite way (sort of)
the item anchor point will also determine which way the items expand inside the bars
if you mean something else i might need a picture
In reply to Arkayenro:
You got it right: I mean the overall window and being able to set an fixed point from which the window grows. Where do I find the option to set a window anchor point?
I am using ver 3.08.23, when I go into the bank i get:
Arkinventory ERROR> bag id -12
Arkinventory ERROR> bag id -13
and my standard blizzard bank bags open but only the added ones, my apologies if this has been addressed already, but can you tell me if i can cure this plaese
Thanks in advace
In reply to Forge_User_49009757:
its fixed in the latest alpha, and will be in the next release. you can ignore them they arent actual errors, blizzard just added more xml elements than there are actual bags
A fresh install, ALL prior folders and settings deleted, won't let me restack my bank. "Item is locked" is the error message I get when I hit the restack button
In reply to cozzene:
known issue. seems blizzard changed their cleanup code to run the actual cleanups from the backend and not your client so at a code level it completes instantly and moves on to the next cleanup command which doesnt like the items being locked by the previous part of the cleanup
the restack code is not affected by this as thats mine and is aware of item locks (which is why its slower)
theres a workaround in one of the latest alphas if you cant live without it, or you can change the restack style from cleanup to restack by right clicking on the restack icon and setting the style in there if you dont want to use an alpha
In reply to Arkayenro:
Ohh, that's good to read =) Not a huuuge deal, thought I was catching something new but I missed that you were aware, sorry.
Thank you for the info!
Is there an option to make it so the color of the ilvl text of an item's icon matches its quality?
In reply to Nuviker:
nope, just a single colour for all ilvl text. i presume you dont have quality coloured borders enabled?
In reply to Arkayenro:
I do but Elvui has that and I find it easier to quickly spot what I'm looking for. I could just split them in a different bag though.
Thanks for the reply and for the addon.
At 10 th of Janurary I came here to check and update for arkinventory as it was giving an error and there was a hotfix that was posted in comment which i applied. I did not have any problems still dont have any errors but if i update to your new build i get errors and the arkinventory does nothing in the game. I am getting vanilla back packs.
read/follow this https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1174
i think twitch may have been doing something stupid for people that had libraries installed separately
Is it possible to display BoE items (or other types) as Scrappable items are done? Non-Scrap items are faded, and Scrappable Items are regular when open the Scap-o-Matic -- Which, I really like as a new feature, btw.
Can it be done through a rule, etc ?
In reply to mbarbone:
that fading at a scrap machine is actually all blizzard code, they added it, which is nice.
AI will only fade items during a search. you could try searching for bind on equip and see what happens but otherwise im not really sure how else AI would know what you want faded?
In reply to Arkayenro:
Thank you. Yes, I agree. That fade at the scrap machine is a really nice touch...
Just all "Bind on Equip" items so I don't scrap by accident. Those I disenchant. :)
No biggie, will make a rule.
Thanks !
Updated it today and got the failsafe kicked in error and got the standard blizzard bags
In reply to Forge_User_12101470:
how are you installing it? manually, twitch, something else?
close the game
close your installer
delete all the
...\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\ArkInventory...
foldersre-install arkinventory via your installer, or manually
start the game
if you installl without libraries then its up to you, or your installer, to ensure that all required libraries are also installed - if they arent installed then AI will fail. if you are even slightly unsure then make sure you are installing the libraries included version
In reply to Arkayenro:
I'm using twitch. But after uninstalling it and install it again a few time it now works again yay.
Absolutely love this addon!
