ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
I'm getting a lot of 'WARNING> aborted scan of bag [2] in location 1 [bag] type is unknown' messages when I log into a character. Also the bag icons in the Bag Changer are blank when the first time open the bags. The warning message don't come up when I do a /reload and the bag icons are there when I open the bags a second time.
I consider these issues purely cosmetic, but still annoying, as they come up every time and on all my characters.
i left the warnings in in case something went weird and they looped - it wont show them now until after the translations are loaded - if you see them then something will be wrong
Pre-made as in a guild mate set up their ArkInventory gave their .lua file me so all I needed to do is drop it in my Save Variables folder and I have all of his configurations
Any idea when "Remove Bars" will work? The bug was logged back May 2013 (ID# 610)
https://code.google.com/p/arkinventory/issues/detail?id=610
I'm using a premade configuration and it has 90 bars in it, so when I go to edit it the bag window is enormous.
there are no premade configurations so im not sure what you mean by that.
the top two rows in edit mode cannot be removed, they are there to make it possible to add items to rows that dont exist yet.
you may want to consider setting the maximum height to whatever resolution your screen is, that way when you go into edit mode it will scroll instead of going off screen
incredibly weird error, how can it not find the PET global variable, unless some other mod has erased it (which would be rather stupid thing to do)
i dont normally use addon loader myself, but if i do enable it then arkinventory loads fine.
try this - disable arkinventory and load into the game, then type in /run print(PET) and see if it prints Pets or nil
Hi only a quick note to informe you that iwith AddonLoader installed, Arkinventory crashes at startup and then keep sending error messages everytime I use bags.
Imho, having Arkinventory loaded by AddonLoader is an overkill. I can hardly figure a game session where I never open the bags :)
Removing AddonLoader or remoiving
fixes it
I'm also having that issue.
Great addon, cannot go back to the default ui.
Is anyone else having trouble with opening items that need to mature in your bags, such as the primal eggs or the disgusting jar from the frenzyheart. Once the item is ready to open, i click on it and it goes grey and does not open, no error message and everything else continues to function. I have tried a /reload but the only way to open the item is to disable arkinventory, open the item and the reeable the addon.
This has been a problem for some time. Albeit not as bad as it is now. As you state yourself it happens everytime now that items can't be opened.
I looove this addon and have used it for such a long time. But if there's ONE thing i wish dearly that was possible, then it'd be that the bars would move around flexible like adibags does.
by new sorting function do you mean the cleanup? if youre using arkinventory as one big bag then youll probably want to disable the cleanup on all the bags, that way it wont move anything around but will still auto deposit reagents
First of all, thank you for a wonderful add on. One of my guildies recommended another one that had many features of several add-ons built into one and I switch to it for about five minutes. After saying many bad words, I switched back. I've been out of game for six months, so maybe some of these issues have been here for a bit, but I notiiced two that are making life a little difficult:
As with Ragedaug (#5167) below, I cannot get my Reagents to go into my Reagents bank bag. I can move them, but I'm so spoiled with the efficiency of your program that I would like your instructions to work. I followed your corrections as Ragedaug quoted using spirit dust as my test, reloaded ui, etc, to no avail.
As Felina_Lain reports in #5178 below, I also have a "click-through issue". If my bank and bag windows overlap (they often do because I play on a 17" screen), the item in the window on top will swap with the window underneath, instead of just going into the bank or withdraw, as intended.
I realize that you are working with the moving target that is Blizz's UI at the moment and your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Finally, and this is more a quality of life issue, is there somewhere I can go to help me understand the new sorting function? I don't like how it lumps everything together once I've separated my items out the way I like them. It moves everything about and I know it's stupid user error. Is there a tutorial that I'm missing?
Not sure if it's a bug or whatever, but when I have a bag window open it get a sort of 'priority' over all my other windows when they overlap, which lead to me clicking stuff in my bag when trying to click stuff in other windows.
Best example is at a merchant. I click on something I want to buy and instead it's the item in my bag window beneath it that get selected...
It never did this before and it's rather annoying... can you guys do something about it?
it sems to be a new variant on an old issue. the item frames are being bumped up to framelevels in the hundres while the primary frame is still down at level 40, so when they overlap the items from the window below are higher that the overlapped window frame and show through.
i've written more workaround code to deal with this and it works by bringing the item frames back down to where they should be but it might still have issues when overlapping non arkinventory windows
its the current alpha release on curse if you want to try it and see if it works ok
Sure I would be glad to try it, but I don't see any alpha version in the download list, can you give me a link?
i've tended to leave that out as most outfit mods will add that information into the tooltip for the item
Firstly, thanks for the great Addon. It is truly one of my must haves.
Secondly, I would like to request a feature. There was an addon (equipsee) that no longer is maintained and broken that would overlay equipment set name over the respective items in your bags so it was very easy to identify what items where in which set. If an item was in more than one, it would list each set name. It was a real simple addone but was so helpful and imho opinion, it only makes sense that this would be native to AI. You already have the ability to show item level. See pic below for example.
I would love to hear your opinion/feedback on this.
Thanking you in advance.
if you open the pet location do those pets show up in there? or has it dropped down to a very small subset of pets?
Ok, this is weird... Now these pets show the correct info in their tooltip, yesterday it never worked, even after relogging / restarting the game... After the first start today no npc / object etc. showed any tooltip, but after reloading they where back and showed the correct info. So I guess there must be something going on with my tooltips here, maybe another addon, maybe blizzard, maybe me, I don't know who to blame ^^
It's strange that it showed the information correctly for a few pets and wrong for others, but it works now, and that is what counts ;) Thx for your fast answer, thx for your addon and keep up your amazing work :D
P.S.: If the info from your addon is ever missing again (or wrong) I will test it a few times (without any other addons) before screaming for help again, I promise ;)
