ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
still trying to figure out how to fix that
im having this error
1x ArkInventory\ArkInventoryMedia.lua:85: script ran too long
go into the config > display > workarounds and lower the in-combat yielding > items value
Umm. When you open the bank up the word "Reagent" is spelled "Reagnt" lol.
its a bag type description, i tried to shorten it, it doesnt really work, probably should have used rgnt
I'm trying to figure out how to make profiles load in this addon, spending time on setting up all the windows the way i want them to is a pain in the butt and a complete waste of time, I made a pretty awesome profile for myself, and saved it (I hope it's saved at least) and can't make it to work with other characters.
I think just selecting a profile is not enoough to make it load and might need to have a LOAD button and command as well.
I tried making the DEFAULT to look like the one I made by selecting default profile and selecting copy from.
But no matter how I tried, it simply didn't work.
I'm at least happy I don't have to do it every goddamn time I load the game.
What is broken and why it doesn't work ?
create a profile, set it up, log into another character, select that profile from teh "existing profiles" dropdown
It's not working, the addon doesn't even save existing profiles, I had to set up the entire settings again after the update.
Edit:
The Addon doesn't even save profiles in files, I tried looking for the profiles files but tehre are none.
under you world of warcraft folder check for WTF\Account\accountname\SavedVariables
make sure theres an ArkInventory.lua file and its not read only or anything else like that
The file is there and it's not read-only.
It's simply not working, I just made a video proving it's not working. As soon as I encode it I'll upload it, though You don't need it probably.
Point being, it's not working. Now I fear that after closing the game I will have to rearrange the entire settings again, wastig time again.
Ok that's also not working, I thought if I installed Ace3 libs it would solve the problem.
Did a new profile, etc, and nothing's changing.
I exited teh game, ran it up, and all settings are reset to default.
This actually didn't reset before the update though, so it's actually pretty weird, before it simply did load saved profiles, but now it simply resets them all teh time. During questing and exploration it's not really botehring me because I only use the bags, but when I go check the guild bank or my bank, it starts getting terribly annoying.
I think teh default for Bank/Guild Bank should be upper left, because if it's Upper Right it overpasses the bags and it's pretty annoying.

i dont know then, the profile code is not mine its an ace3 library that handles it for every single ace3 based mod (none us write our own profile code we just use the library to handle it for us)
i'd probably just go with deleting the existing file (or renaming it), make a new profile, set one thing (eg config > settngs > bag > windows > width) , exit out, come back in and check its still there, if it is then swap to another toon and see if they can use that profile
just to make sure, the characters are on the same account yes?
Yes they are, I did some fidling, and check if this works.
Ah, fair enough--will do and thanks for all the hard work!
Any chance the Connected Realms info will get updated? While I don't mind adding the entries for the ones I play on (Argent Dawn/The Scryers, US) I'm sure I'm not the only one that might be annoyed at this.
if blizzard made it easier, then it would get updated more often. their realm status web api uses internal servernames (no special characters so the names dont always match the server names) so i have to manually create the data (i havent looked into writing some code to parse the JSON data yet)
if you notice any mising just lodge a ticket with the realms in that cluster and i'll add them in
should only show on warlocks (and yes they always come back if you remoe them), if warlocks no longer have soul shards at all then let me know and i'll remove it
I use the track item plugin with Titan Panel and removed the soul shards because I don't need them and now I'm tracking all the things I want to be tracked, but the soul shards keep coming back... How can I stop this? I don't want them to be tracked there.
Only Affliction warlocks use soul shards and it is a resource now (no item in your bags) and is shown under your health / mana bar (if you use the standard blizz unit frames). So no item to track ;) I don't know if it still works because I always play as demonology or destruction warlock and so I don't have any soul shards ever :D
