ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Hello! I got a strange issue with Search box, however it's easy to fix manually.
I've been using 3.03.31 ever since it was uploaded on Curse and this morning i noticed the Search box for my inventory dissapeared. If you have the same problem, type /arkinv config, go to Settings->Window->Frames->Search and there uncheck "Hide". Hope that helps.
love ArkInventory. i've used it for years. wouldnt not use it.
recently i've started using a tooltip addon called TipTac. it has nice features for tooltips. however i have to manually start TipTac each time i login by opening its configuration screen then closing it.
this seems to be caused by a conflict with ArkInventory. i disabled all my other addons and reenabled them one at a time and only with ArkInventory and TipTac both enabled does tiptac not work.
posted a similar post on the tiptac thread but not sure where the bug actually lies so figured i'd post here too.
seeing how ai still loads and works im going to ignore this until the other author has had a chance to look, i dont use tiptac so i cant readily check, but if you get nowhere bring it up again and ill see what i can do
Thank you so much for your reply.
It just happened again - I logged in and my settings were wiped.
By "saved variables folder", I'm assuming you are talking about WTF / Account / myname / Realm / Charactername / SavedVariables
The thing is, there is no ArkInventory file in that directory. Just to be thorough, I did a search for ArkInventory, then just for Inventory, then just for Ark - none of those text strings are present within any file in that directory.
I believe I am using 3.03.31.
As an experiement, I looked one directory up at the SavedVariables.lua file (WTF / Account / myname / Realm / Charactername / SavedVariables.lua). My computer says it hasn't been modified since September 8, 2013. I trashed it anyways, replacing it with the SavedVariables.lua.bak, started WoW back up, but my settings were still wiped.
I must be missing a basic step. Please advise.
About once every three or four months, something hinky happens in the game and all of my ArkInventory organization disappears:
( I tried reverting the Addon, and also the whole character profile in the WTF folder, but that didn't fix it. :-( )
check your saved variables folder, wow has backups for the main file and keeps another, if your main file is corrupt delete it and try the backup
once you have ai the way you like it then quit wow and take a backup of the savedvariable file and keep it safe, do this every time you make major changes to your layout or rules.
FOUND IT! I was looking too far down. This is the file:
WTF > Account > Playername > SavedVariables > ArkInventory.lua
I reverted to a week-old version of this file, and everything reverted to my earlier set of changes.
Thank you so much for your earlier help. This has been an *indespensible* addon for me for many years. Without it, opening my bags would be an exercise in frustration every time. I gave ten bucks to Auctioneer last month, where can I send you some thank-you cash?
make sure you take a backup of a valid arkinventory.lua file (while wow is not running) and keep that in a safe place. it doesnt happen very often but sometimes even the backups wow makes can get corrupted.
you should probably backup your entire wtf folder every now and then so youve got all your mod data saved somewhere else, just in case
I hate it - at least every 10th time, when WoW crashes, all profile data are gone. At least once a month
So I have to rebuild all rules for all classes and professions again what lasts about one and an half hour.
Please fix this. P.e. this way that I am able to safe my settings as standard and this standard profile than is write-protected and can be changed ONLY if I allow this explixitely.
thx in advance
Just went to the google code site. Found the fix.
http://code.google.com/p/arkinventory/
"'
if you are using 3.03.11-12 and are having issues about a token class not existing error please type this into your chat window and press enter
<tt>/run ArkInventory.EraseSavedData( nil, ArkInventory.Const.Location.Token )</tt>
then logout and login (or <tt>/reload</tt>) that should erase all your token data and allow the mod to work.'"
Worked beautifully. thanks
Absolutely LOVE arkinventory. Thank you.
Here's the issue I have with 3.03.31

I'm also having an issue with item stacks not showing. Usually occurs when zoning a few times.
i've used arkinventory for years, so thanks arkayenro. i don't know what i'd do without the ability to see what all my alts have in their bags, on their persons, in their banks, in their mailboxes, etc. it's truly helpful. i DO wish, however, that it was easier to change the group you want something in. like...with adibags, for example...you can just drag an item and drop it into the group you want it in...no messing around with custom group assignments or edit modes or anything like that. oh well, i'll figure something out. thanks :)
I am having the same issues. Every hour I have to at least reload my game once, due to numbers not showing on the stacks. When you mouse over them, the numbers show in the tooltip but still not on the stack. It's annoying when you are farming for something and you need a certain amount.
update for new patch please. item stacks gets removed randomly.
it has been updated for this patch - please explain your actual issue
addon is not showing any of the stack numbers like in this:http://i.imgur.com/Qrd3iAZ.jpg
only after reload they work http://i.imgur.com/bIiP7A6.jpg but i don't really wanna reload every other minute.
Am also getting this issue, screen freezes for 5-10 when bank opens or when moving the bag frame around the screen, particularly when item icons overlap other screen elements. Only happens with arcinventory enabled.
Hey there :)
First of all thank you for this very useful addon - really helps me keeping my mess sorted. ^^
Next, I wanted to ask you for advice / inform you of an issue which I'm currently experiencing (started some updates ago):
Always when I open my bank account (therefore click on a bank guy, which shows me my bank storage) my game freezes for some seconds. Like a big lag, seems like my bag addon (logically ArkInventory) is overwhelmed by all the information it has to get... :(
Disabling the addon doesn't help - happens on all my characters and I actually don't want to reinstall it, because of all the configuration I'd have to redo. :/
Is there some way to fix this?
Thanks
My problem seems to be related to the fact that there are TWO slightly different sizes of the same file, libdialog-1.0.lua in the installation zip file, which causes errors when I try to install the addon. I've tried fixing it so that there is only one, but regardless of which one things still fail.
