ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Hi ! On almost all my characters (strangely, not all of them), when I open the inventory window (equipped items) (I'm not sure how you call it because my client and AI are in french) the window is buggy and stuck in the top left corner of the screen, I can't see the items (or only a few of them), and I get this error message:

I use a rule that's uses "outfit()". But if I assign this rule to a bar, it's not sorting this items to this bar.
I use Outfitter for Outfits.
Any idea what it is?
(The same rule works fine in Cataclysm, since 5.0.4 it doesn't works)
Hi there, and thanks for the great mod!
I've scoured the options and googled around and wasn't able to find the answer, so I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right terms or not. I'd like to have my bag remain open at all times, unless I specifically hit the hotkey to close it. For instance, if I want to get to the main game menu and use escape to get to it, the given bag type would stay open no matter how many times I mash the escape key. I thought I had this set up a couple years ago, but between breaks from WoW and reinstalls I've forgotten how to enable this.
Thanks again,
Evil S. Pork
Same problem here :(
I too am having a problem with the recent update and am extremely relieved to find I'm not the only one. Just like the couple of posts below, my categorization, item sorting, and item rarity classification border color are all fubar! D: All of my enchanting items are classified as Poor quality items (grey borders) some of the enchanting mats category has changed completely (Dream Dust changed to Skill > Mining and Small dream shard changed to Trade goods > Enchanting ) and the free spaces are in an odd place. At the moment, my free bag spaces are at the bottom, but earlier they were sandwiched in between items. Happy to hear this is likely an issue with the update, it is driving meh nuts not being able to figure out the problem.
Thanks!
I'm having a problem with the recent update. Everything used to sort by rarity>ilvl>name at the bottom of the window, but now about half of my things are randomly not being sorted like that and are just left at the top of the window. Restacking and refreshing does not seem to help. I didn't change any settings, so I'm not sure why it would be doing this. Is there anything you could think of that would have caused this or any setting I can change to fix it? Thanks for any help.
cloth such as mageweave runecloth etc, not sorting......
edit: just noticed its like ALL trade goods exept ore
Today I noticed two new bugs.
Sorting is random. I am using custom "rarity > ilevel > name" sorting for inks, and sometimes Celestial Ink is sorted last after higher ilevel inks like Ink of the Sea, but sometimes during same session sorting works. Also I saw right sorting in bank but wrong in bag when going to bank.
Colored borders doesn't work allways. I once saw normal item (glyph which is still in use) marked with gray borders. I also saw stack of rare pigments missing green border (while other stack of same pigment had that border). Border was missing from stack of less than 20 pigments while full stack had border.
EDIT: Screenshot about some problems http://malaire.com/images/WoWScrnShot_091312_115142.jpg
My best guess is "Expert Fishing: The Bass and You" .
I had the same issue, with one character (druid), when I tried to open a bank window. After disabling the addon, it appeared to work....until I tried to mouse over one particular item, then it crashed again. It looks like that one item in my bank is causing the error. I'm waiting for a GM to delete the item. I hope this is the extent of the issue.
Do you know what item it is?
Wow. Same issue here. I loaded the game without addons and started mousing over all my items. Went to mouse over a book looking item and the game crashes. I'll submit a ticket to Blizzard. Thanks.
usually means theyve deleted an item off the servers but youve still got one, and yes, it takes a GM to destroy your item.
This error started popping after updating to 3.03.03

Edit to add that even with a fresh install and only Ark enabled I was getting the error above.
fixed next version
I have solved this by using custom periodictable rule for each material type I use, e.g. pt("Tradeskill.Mat.ByType.Cloth") for cloth.
The problem with this is that Tailoring clumps both the cloth and DE mats together. I only want the cloth on its own bar, not cloth and DE mats.
Trade Goods > Cloth is not sorting it to its own bar now on my Tailor.
Skill > Tailoring sorts cloth and DE mats that Tailoring uses which is not what I want. Only the cloth.
unfortunately thats the consequence of the profession scanning actually working, and any mats your profession can use gets assigned to that profession. youll have to create a rule to pull the de mats into another category and then place that category on another bar..
today's update messed up a lot of my sort settings.. Most tradegoods were affected (herbs, enchantment dusts (essences stayed sorted) cloth, random white stuff from mobs (i.e soul essence ), reinstalled addon, items still won't sort properly. However gear wasn'at affected.
Any fix planned?
Edit: I took a closer look and found the problem, love the new sort options like tokens etc. good work. Without your addon I would be lost :D
