3 - Mendeleev and GnomeWorks

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Mendeleev and GnomeWorks.
2. Open your tradeskills.
3. The tooltips of the materials does not show what can you make from then in the "craftable" tree, only after I pressed Shift.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should see the color-coded names of the items I can make with that material (cloth, metal ores/bars etc.), but the information isn't there.

What version of the product are you using?

Do you have an error log of what happened?
There isn't any error.

Please provide any additional information below.
I was using Skillet as my tradeskill addon before 4.0. When I opened my professions, Mendeleev scanned what I can make and it was shown in the mats' tooltips. Now I'm using GnomeWorks and it seems Mendeleev does not support this addon (or GnomeWorks does not support Mendeleev; I don't know which one should be changed).

There isn't, someone has to update it.

Didn't mean to fix it (I'm not that nasty *g*) - just include an updated version, if there even is one. :D

I am not in the business of fixing PeriodicTable, so you need to find someone else for that :)

At least for the time being.

That worked a treat! It also seems to have negated the "stall" on opening up a substantially completed tradeskill (mostly all recipes known) that I've been suffering through, for quite some time.

The only mild 'quirk' that I've noticed is that filters set on Skillet, from the last time it was open, seem to limit what shows up in Mendeleev's list.

For example, my default settings for Skillet involve me watching 'yellow or better' crafted items (which I revert to grey/green if I need to make something else). If I log in anew and open up the Skillet window, that yellow filter is already in place and Mendeleev only lists those shows items as craftable. If I then flip the filter off (to show everything), then Mendeleev picks up the remaining items and everything shows fine.

Cheers for this fix, though. Definitely workable, as is!

PS. May also want to update PeriodicTable, or something; Mend. doesn't currently recognise new items like Embersilk or any of the new gems, enchanting mats or cooking ingredients. :]

Did some code-digging and, by the looks of it, Mendeleev is relying on the Blizzard trade-skill frame ("TradeSkillFrame") global being set/available and the frame, itself, being visible to scan profession recipes.

Unfortunately, one of the first things Skillet does, on initialisation/enabling, is set things up so that the Blizzard frame cannot be shown (replacing the OnShow with its own function and responding to the TRADE_SKILL_SHOW event, amongst others, in its own particular way).

I would assume that GnomeWorks does things in a similar way (this is a pure guess, as I've never used GnomeWorks, nor have I downloaded the addon), if Mendeleev is suffering similar symptoms with both active.

Given the propensity for trade-skill frame replacements to restrict the Blizzard frame from showing, I think Mendeleev may need a re-thinking as to how it collects its data - one possible solution, that I'd suggest, is that Mendeleev could dissect the data storage of the addons restricting frame visibility, as that would negate the need for more than one addon to scour the skill data at the same time (and save any extraneous 'stalls' any time the replacement trade-skill frames are opened).

    Hope this helps.

Agreed. Skillet (latest) is also causing this issue.

Looks like both GnomeWorks *and* Skillet now cause Mendeleev to fail. See
