X-Perl UnitFrames
Patch 6.0.3 compatibility and future of X-Perl
Use latest alpha from WoWAce for using in Patch 6.0.3
http://www.wowace.com/addons/xperl/files/
May still has problems but for most cases it should be working(at least was tested on beta), if not, clearing old setting by killing(and backup) XPerlxxxxxxx.lua in the WTF directory of your WoW installlation and try again with fresh new default setting, thanks your patience.
If still someone want to help Zeksie for he earns his donates from X-Perl then that's fine for Zek and X-Perl, but seems like it's time to cut him out as no one want to help X-Perl anymore (as many of users already heard about the mess of this poor addon), I guess.
I don't know X-Perl will still be continue or not(it's highly possible it won't be, as the new maintainer Resike continued the developing and forked to Z-Perl, and he said he won't abandon his addons), I won't force everyone should must to use Resike's one at this point, as his Z-Perl isn't stable yet, and for some reasons, I don't think he want to port his fixes back to X-Perl as he knows about how Zek did about his addons and everyone who helped Zek to maintaining this poor addon...and, of course...X-Perl may broken again when next time Blizzard's patches released..... /sigh
(At this point, I won't force everyone who used X-Perl to go Z-Perl until it's more stable than now, feel free to use Z-Perl or other Unitframe addons if you want, and do NOT hold your breathe about X-Perl too much, too. I already lost my hope on X-Perl, at least I can trust Resike and Z-Perl now...)
Sincerely,
PlayerLin - Maintainer of X-Perl but not a proper skilled coder, just a locale translator and do some shitty PRs. :(
Bug Reporting
Please use the Ticketing System on WoWAce Here and avoid posting bugs using comments on Curse because they're difficult to track and they will probably get lost.
Use a good error catcher (like BugSack from files.wowace.com) and provide the full error text, and give as much information as possible to recreate the problem. Don't assume We know what you're talking about with some three word report.
Introduction
Perl, with Extra stuff. Much enchanced from Nymbia's Perl UnitFrames, and a complete replacement for Blizzard's default unit frames, including raid frames and raid tools, with little remaining of the original Nymbia code.
- Range Finder (combined with optional health check and/or debuff check) for all frames based on spell or item range test.
- HoT Monitor will highlight units clearly that have ''your own'' active Heal over Time spells. Regardless of how many other heal over time buffs are on the raid members, you can keep track of your own ones and when they expire.
- Debuff Highlighting in standard debuff colours on all friendly frames. Priority given to show debuffs that ''you'' can cure first.
- Raid Frames, buff icons, MT list units and some other portions or X-Perl are Created on demand. Saving a lot of time and memory at system startup. Defering the creation of many parts of X-Perl to when they are actually required. And of course, most often outside of raids they are never required and are never created.
- Raid Target icon support for Target, Target's Target, MT Targets.
- Raid Tooltip will show combat rezzers available (druids with Rebirth ready (or very soon available) and any normal rezzers out of combat) if you bring up tooltip of a dead person.
- In-combat indicators for all units.
- 3D Portraits for player, pet, target, focus, party. Optional. Of course this may degrade your framerate somewhat because you are displaying more 3D character models that without this option. But some like it pretty, and it does look cool.
- Red and Green combat flashes for frames when player, pet, target, party, partypets, raid take damage/heals. Useful indication of things happening.
- Added '''time left''' on party member/target buffs/debuffs when in a raid, these depend somewhat on CTRA sending appropriate information over the addon channel, although some of it can be determined at run time by X-Perl, when a player gets a buff for example, we know how long it should last, and therefor when it should expire.
- Totally new options window including all X-Perl options and access via minimap icon and the /xperl splash command.
- Configurable colours for borders and backgrounds. Including class coloured names, and configurable reaction colours.
Much care has been taken with code size, memory load, memory usage per cycle and so on. LuaProfiler/OnEvent mods used extensively and regularly to ensure that X-Perl does not do more work than is absolutely necessary.
Assists View
Will show anyone from raid assising you with your target, and can also show healers or all plus known enemies targetting you.
Tooltips for the same also available (on player and target frames) if you prefer to not use the main window.
MT Targets
Replaces CTRA MT Targets window, and doubles as a replacement for the Perl RaidFrames warrior targets.
Indicator shows which target you are on.
Frames will be coloured to show if tanks have duplicate targets.
Casting Monitor
(WORK IN PROGRESS)
Shows selected classes (defaults to healer classes) in a list (much like the MT List), but with some differences.
Shows mana bars and cast bars on left. Their targets on right. Health bar as normal, but a secondary small red bar on targets which shows the maximum single hit this unit has received since entering combat. The secondary bar will extend downwards from their current HP level down to as far as zero.
A green name on the targets indicates this is the same target that you have. You can click on casters or their targets as expected.
For druids, right clicking on a caster will cast Innervate on them.
For shamans, right clicking on a caster will cast Mana Tide Totem. Check the * indicator to see if they're in your group.
All bars can be re-sized in X-Perl main options (Monitor section).
Totals can be toggled (from the 'T' minibutton at top of frame) which gives overview of raid mana status.
Raid Admin
(WORK IN PROGRESS)
Save/Load raid roster setups Only does direct save and load for the moment, but more to come (templates and such).
Item Check
Replacement for /raitem /radur /raresist /rareg. Use the old commands before, or drop items in the left item list.
Query button will perform /raitem on all ticked items (query always includes dur and resists) and you can then view and review all the results whenever, without having to re-query each item.
Includes everyone in raid, so you don't have to work out who doesn't have items, it'll list them with 0 instead of no entry.
Active Scanner to check raid member's equipment for the item selected. So you can be sure that people actually have the item worn (Onyxia Cloak for example), without having to go round single target inspecting everyone who 'forgot' to install CTRA for the 50th raid in a row.
Grim Reaper
Removed from X-Perl, but continues as it's own standalone Ace mod.

More Buffing Features
Can be found in my new universal buffing mod, ZOMGBuffs
We can't force those repacker doing such stupid shit...
Don't know if this is still watched or not but I figured I should give it a shot anyway. I have a request and a question.
First is a request for a bit more flexibility in raid frame layout management. Currently we can only use group 1 as an anchor for the rest of the frames and space from there. There are also options to adjust location of either the odds or evens groups separately. Here is what I would like. My frames are organized on the left side of my screen above my chat box.
Text version of my layout:
G7, G8, G9
G4, G5, G6
G1, G2, G3
Right now I can space G1-G3 and use the spacing control (window below the button that says Align Left) and have those 3 groups perfectly -2 spaced apart. If I want to have G4 on top of that and spaced -2 horizontally and vertically, it isn't possible. I have to manually click and drag the top 3 groups into place. I have extreme OCD and I can TELL when it's not aligned exactly.
SO individual group selection and spacing control (including a vertical spacing option) would be nice to add to the existing option of all, odds, evens, first 4, last 4.
And my question. There's a weird thing going on with the target highlight option (General ->Status Highlighting -> My Target) and my focus frame. If I have just the health bar and nameplate showing for a focus frame and NOT the class icon or level, the golden border that surrounds my focus frame still extends around the elements that are not visible/disabled. So there's a weird empty space between the golden border and the actual health bar of my focus target.
I remember it doing this as far back as Ulduar raiding days. Anybody have a suggestion to make it frame around the focus frame itself and not include invisible elements? Figured I should kill two birds with one stone. Wasn't a huge problem, just curious if I'm doing something wrong and overloading custom settings.
That was longer than I expected. Wanted to be detailed and I think I went overboard. Oops...
First issue: the best thing you can do is to position them manually. It is quite difficult for us to add complex features to the options pane. Also we currently lack of a very experienced programmer to do complex things, so we just make minor features and try to do our best to keep this addon working. (I use it from BC as most of the people who use it and I can't play without it).
Second issue: Given that this could be a bug, I suggest you to explain it better in a WoWAce ticket and to add screenshots if possible. On WoWAce you can use the same account you used here.
Please continue saying what you need this addon to do and every bug you find. This is the only way to help us to keep it alive.
Thank you for your post.
PS: I'm sorry if I replied so shortly compared to your post :-)
Thanks for replying to me so quickly. Also, I always feel better when I read that other people can't live without this addon because I thought I had grown simply too dependent upon it. I guess that's more of a sign of a really good addon. Thank you and your group for maintaining it. I'm glad X-Perl still runs in MoP. I just came back after quitting at the launch of the Firelands raid. A majority of the addons I used to use are either discontinued, renamed (so I can't find them without serious effort), or just rebuilt in a way that they have half the features they used to. X-Perl being a constant in my UI is a huge comfort, as nerdy as that may sound.
I appreciate the info regarding the raid frame alignment feature request. I don't know a thing about coding so I didn't realize it was a big problem. Thank you for filling me in on that. I use a ton of addons so I'm a good "user" but not much good at anything else with them.
I never really thought of the target indicator frame highlight thingy as a "bug" so I'll take a ticket out for that now that you mention it could be. Like I said, I just came back to the game, so I'll do my best to clean up my UI before posting a screenshot or two so you can actually see what's going on. My UI is a bit of a mess compared to what it was.
And don't worry about replies being shorter than my god-awful novel length posts. I'm a product of public schooling. English classes gave me page requirements and not content standards. Concise is not my strong suit. lol Thanks again for your time and patience as well!
Hello,
First off, I have been using X-Perl since BC and am a huge fan!
Is it possible to add a feature to show the cc of a target in the player portrait? For example, if a target is cycloned it would show in the portrait frame instead of below the frame with the other debuffs/buffs.
If possible, could this be a feature that is toggled on and off through the options interface?
Thanks for your time
Do you want that for party groups only or for raid frames too?
the little box on top left with the ready check button and the flags and markers and what not is gone. how do i get it back????
Buffs and debuffs seems twice.I mean it shows buffs with middle size of square and one more liittle square in it.How can I fix it.Please someone help me!
Explain "seems twice" please.
it shows buffs with middle size of square and one more liittle square in it.How can I fix it!
Ok I found it I got cooldown addon and xperl got cooldown count they just came togeter and seemed twice I closed one of them it solved
Maybe i ddint saw an option but is it possible to make the player and target frame click through ? If so tell me how, ill edit text files or anything for that.
I've had it set to "Xperl 2" bar texture for years now, and recently was trying some other ones out. But now Xperl 2 is gone. Any idea why that is? Love the add-on btw
I don't know but this texture didn't exist on X-Perl since TBC or WotLK...I'm not sure what time was it removed but I'm sure it disappeared from X-Perl for some years...
The current textures set never changed since 2.4.1(I guess, the SVN log was messed up by the merge of WoWAce and Curse...those bar texture blp files were existed on r18(v2.4.1 release) and never changed again...
The files list in the X-Perl's files page on WoWAce still has some old versions (2.3.7e~2.4.0 files), but I don't know if the XPerl 2 texture does exist in them...lazy to compare those files... :p
Files about ~2.3.7d ? If the old WoWAce SVN site still exist on now, maybe it's on there but...who knows, maybe it never exist after X-Perl goes on WoWAce. :p
Oh damn, maybe my setting were older than I thought, lmao. Thanks for the answer man, keep up the good work!
Still can't promote a unit to Main Tank as the raid leader. Does using an old version of x-perl fix this? If so, how do I undo the update you told me to get and go back to an old version? I updated to 3.7.1 like you suggested at the top of your page but have not been able to promote tanks ever since then. When will this be fixed?
Pls can you add to it player "name change" ? Because I have second characters and I want to have the same name ( I want see it only for me or who own it)
Pls do it
Thank you :)
Is there a way to adjust the debuff sizes for target of target?
I see the option to change the debuff sizes of target, but no obvious way for target of target.
Thanks.
Is there any way to make the raid frames go horizontal? I know most like for the groups to go down, but I prefer them to go across. In a 25 man raid it will be easier to place them in a certain place on my screen then it is now. So far I can not find anywhere to change that. Thanks.
How do you get rid of these 2 things? I had figured it out years ago and then had to delete my cache folder and stuff and lost all my settings in my addons and want to get rid of these bars
