Table of Contents

Ever encounter a bug where UI buttons are not clickable or elements are mysteriously missing?

This is usually caused by a bug in the Blizzard frame code, whereby child frames can accidentally be assigned a lower level in the frame strata than their parent, leading to buttons that appear "behind" their container, making them either unclickable or completely hidden.

StrataFix provides a simple workaround for this bug, which affects numerous UI elements, notably including:

Encounter Journal
Quest Log
Glyph Pane
AtlasLoot addon
many AceGUI addons
and more!

Just install as usual and it silently does its job, problem forever fixed!

StrataFix version 3.0 is a major rewrite of the original fixing code. It integrates a new fixing strategy that more directly targets the bugs in the base Blizzard code, and thereby greatly reduces the chance for conflicts with other addons (especially skinning addons). The old fix code is still available via "/stratafix force", but is now deprecated.

WoD/6.0 Update: The bug in Blizzard frames remains in WoW version 6.x, and this addon remains an effective workaround for it.

The SVN external URL for LibStrataFix is incorrect. I've fixed it in my local copy.

Looks like strata issues with the dungeon journal are back as of 7.1

Is this addon's fix still relevant?

Very effective for most of the Strata errors, still in late WoD. However, sometimes the PvP and Challenge tabs of the dungeon browser have problems. Can you look into this?

Raising the FrameLevel of PVPUIFrame and ChallengesFrame by 1 worked nicely, so stratafix should be able to do this easily ;-)

I updated a bunch of addons and all the sudden my UI kept giving me these strata problems. I was reloading my UI 20+ times a day. This addon is a lifesaver!

Because I often experienced the button bug in the journal I started using atlasloot to see what drops. And for reading even the basic tacts I used the internet. Now that I stumpbled upon this addon I hope it fixes the problem and I can use the journal again.

Just stumbled upon this. Sometimes the bosses in the dungeon journal and the buttons in the group finder stop working for me/can't click them, glyphs sometimes become unclickable too.Would be awesome if this fixed it. I'll definitely report back.

Edit: After playing with this mod for almost a week I've not had it happen even once. So I take it this fix really helped with any of the issues I had. Awesome!

In patch 6.0 dungeon journal can still bug (doesn't show boss, loot panel etc, its just empty) :( They should hire you in Blizzard btw!

Works great except for the default raid frames. They appear infront of the raid options menu when it pops out. Is there any workaround for that?

You would think blizzard would of fixed these problems it just show you that the game is not ready for release when the same sort of bugs remain in a full expanion you know

In all fairness to Blizzard, the bug this addon corrects is VERY silppery and intermittent, and the root cause is probably a nightmare for them to track down, if they've even made the effort. It took me literally dozens of hours and a fair amount of luck to fully diagnose the symptoms in the first place and write an effective workaround.

version 3.3.1 works on wow 5.0. No changes were required aside from the TOC update.
