SmartRes2
SmartRes2
SmartRes2 coordinates party and raid recovery after a partial or total wipe. It tracks resurrection activity, helps resurrection-capable players choose useful targets, reduces duplicate casts, and provides optional visual and chat feedback while the group recovers.
Highlights
- Smart resurrection targeting: the single-target keybind chooses an eligible dead group member, avoids targets already being resurrected or with a useful resurrection offer, and prioritizes group role, resurrection capability, and level before randomly choosing between equal candidates.
- Secure resurrection keybinds: SmartRes2 provides single-target, manual-target, combat resurrection, and—where supported—mass resurrection bindings without requiring visible action-bar buttons.
- Resurrection bars: colour-coded bars distinguish the fastest casts, competing casts, mass resurrection, and players waiting to accept a resurrection. The Bars module is highly configurable and includes simulated bars for previewing changes.
- Configurable chat: resurrection announcements and collision warnings can use appropriate group channels, whispers, or no output at all. Built-in random messages can be enabled, disabled, replaced, or supplemented with custom messages.
Keybindings
SmartRes2 keybindings are configured through Blizzard's Key Bindings interface under the SmartRes2 category.
- Resurrection-capable classes can bind Single Target Res Key for SmartRes2's automatic target selection.
- Hunters should bind Single Target Res Key; SmartRes2 uses it for Revive Pet.
- Warlocks and other classes with a combat resurrection can bind Combat Res Key.
- Manual Target Res keeps conventional manual resurrection targeting available.
- Mass Res Key is available on game versions that support mass resurrection.
Once the SmartRes2 bindings you use are configured, the corresponding resurrection spells do not need to remain on your action bars. Removing them is optional, but can free action-bar slots.
SmartRes2 can also track non-class resurrection sources, such as items. Tracked casts can appear on the Bars display and can use the normal Chat announcements, but SmartRes2 deliberately does not provide smart keybindings for profession or item-based resurrection effects. Those should be activated normally.
For automatic single-target resurrection, eligible dead group members are prioritized in this order:
- Healers.
- Druids, evokers, monks, paladins, priests, and shamans, because these classes have an ordinary out-of-combat resurrection spell regardless of their current specialization or assigned role.
- Tanks.
- Everyone else, without considering specialization, assigned damage role, power type, or other class resources.
Within the highest available priority, SmartRes2 prefers the highest-level character. If multiple characters have the same priority and level, it chooses randomly between them.
Bars and Chat
The Bars module shows resurrection casts and waiting resurrection offers in one configurable display. Frame size, scale, position, textures, borders, fonts, icons, colours, text, and other presentation options can be adjusted without changing SmartRes2's recovery logic. Masque can skin bar icons when it is installed.
The Chat module can announce single-target and mass resurrection casts and warn other resurrection casters when their cast will not finish first. When several group members are running SmartRes2 with collision notifications enabled, they automatically choose one sender for each warning instead of all sending the same message. The Group output follows the current group context, while explicit channel choices and None are available when more control is preferred.
Supported World of Warcraft Versions
SmartRes2 supports:
- Retail
- Mists of Pandaria Classic
- Wrath Classic / Titan Reforged
- The Burning Crusade Classic
- Classic Era
Feature availability follows the capabilities of each game version. Mass resurrection bindings and options are shown only on versions where mass resurrection spells can exist. For game versions where spell ranks exist, SmartRes2 automatically updates itself after the player trains new spells to always use the player's highest spell rank.
Configuration
Open SmartRes2 through Blizzard's AddOns settings, right-click its Broker or minimap launcher, or use one of these slash commands:
/smartres2
/smartres
/sr
The Broker/minimap launcher also provides quick Bars controls: left-click toggles the Bars frame lock, and middle-click shows or clears simulated test bars.
Translating
SmartRes2 can be localized through the WowAce localization portal.

Posted Aug 12, 2012The latest version is for the MoP Beta, and it is version 2.00 of SmartRes2. It won't look any different to users, but several back end things were improved or changed out of necessity. This WILL NOT WORK on live servers. You can find the download in Other Downloads above. For some reason, it didn't show up in the main file list.
Arnen, if the bars keep changing size, let me know, as that means there is a bug in LibBars, and I will need help to find and fix it, because it is not my addon.
I expect bugs, because I cannot thoroughly test it on the beta. I'm not in a guild and have way too much other work to get into one, let alone run instances and raids. That is where you guys come in. If you find bugs, please go to the WowAce project page (in the description and main data) and look for, update, or create bug tickets. Preferably with either BugSack or Swatter. Screen shots help too.
Good luck!

Posted Jul 19, 2012This seems to mostly work, but for some reason every time I log in or reload my UI, the size of the bar changes from the setting I want. If I open the options, it SHOWS the correct value, but I have to actually click on it to reset it. Not a HUGE deal, but mildly annoying if I forget to fix it each time I log in and suddenly have a bar stretching halfway across my screen.

Posted Dec 15, 2011Sorry for the headaches, oh glorious alpha testers! Does r202 load and run properly? It fixes the misspelled GetSpellInfo. My biggest problem is I can't log into WoW to test directly, and the free play stops at level 20, which is a long way away from 85.
I love bug reports, especially since without being able to load the game directly they are vital. If you guys can, and are willing, please install both BugSack and BugGrabber, even short-term, to catch the errors. Those addons give an infinitely better error report than Blizzard's built-in feature, although I do suggest turning said feature on anyway, even with BG and BS.
Also, please post any errors on the WoWAce project page in order to keep them all in one place. And to keep the comments section clear for, um, comments LOL.
Thank you all for your time and support (and bug reports!) and once done, enjoy!

Posted Dec 14, 2011The errors here with latest version are due to a mispelled GetSpellInfo .. it is in the code as GetspellInfo simply fixing this typo in the current latest build will fix the errors in the addon.

Posted Dec 14, 2011I doubt it is Ace3. It is more likely a bug in my alpha code. Unfortunately, the error code posted doesn't tell me much, other than the bar code isn't loading. It would help greatly if this was a BugSack or Swatter error report. The built in error reporting tool is next to useless :(
In future, could you also please read the instructions and NOT post error code into the comment section? Thanks.

Posted Dec 6, 2011If you keep your settings, it won't matter how many times you download the addon, it will save your phrase. It could be added as a hard-coded, but that would then require translation.
... Wait, are you adding the phrase in the options screen, or writing it into SmartRes2.lua? Add it into the options screen, because if you edit SmartRes2.lua, that explains why your phrase isn't being saved.
