Skada Damage Meter

Skada is a modular damage meter for World of Warcraft with various viewing modes, segmented fights, and customizable windows. It is designed for efficiency with minimal memory and CPU impact.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

Midnight Edition (WoW 12.0+)

This version of Skada is updated for World of Warcraft: Midnight and uses Blizzard's new session-based combat systems.

Usage

Getting Started

A default window is created upon first load. Access the configuration menu by clicking the cog icon on the window title bar or via the minimap button. Select Configure to access settings.

Multiple Windows

Skada supports multiple windows. Create new ones under the Windows section of the configuration panel. Windows can be:

Bar: The standard customizable meter.
Inline: A horizontal line for custom UI setups.
Data Text: For LDB displays and minimal setups.

Navigation

Left-Click: View more detailed information.
Right-Click: Return to the previous view.
Mousewheel: Scroll through lists.
Tooltips: Hover over bars to see additional context and shortcut keys (e.g., Shift-click for targets).

Themes

Manage window designs with the built-in Theme Engine. You can import and export themes by using theme strings.

Versions

Midnight (Default): For WoW 12.0+ using the Native API.
Classic Version: The version for older WoW releases.

I am a happy user of Skada Damage Meter. Thanks for the great addon. I'd love to see EnsidiaFails-Integration, as their ulduar-fails are much more elaborated than Failbot, any chance on that one?

Open the configuration (from Interface->Addons->Skada, or the popup menu), and navigate to Windows->Skada->General options. Set mode in combat to Threat, and check the "Return after combat" checkbox. After combat the window will return to the mode you were in before entering combat.

Did you install it correctly? The download should contain a number of folders called SkadaDamage, SkadaHealing, and so on. All these should be placed separately in your Addons folder.

well i just got this addon and i installed it like everyother addon but i cant seem to get it to pop up on my game screen. and i am not to sure how to get it to work

Strange, I can't reproduce the error. I deleted the window I had, and made a new one, no errors.

However, I cant move the frame around at all now. I tripled checked that lock window was unchecked, I checked the box, unchecked it, I cant move the frame.

The DPS is not bugged. The calculation used is different from Recount, that is all. There is no "real" DPS measurement. Skada uses this very simple formula: damage done / time in combat. Time in combat is the time between the first and the last attack. Other damage meters may use another formula, perhaps accounting for people stopping combat mid-fight.

I second that. I use dps to compare me to myself (if that makes sense in english). Total damage doesn't help me at all. I don't care whether the rest of the group did 10 billion damage, I just want to know whether I did good or not.

"Time in combat is the time between the first and the last attack."
Does this mean MY first and MY last attack? That would be ok. But I'm under the impression that it means somebodys (=the tanks) first and last attacks.
I usually get flagged for combat when the tank pulls. I start dps-ing several seconds later. I still might be looting while part of the group is fighting already ...

In skada my dps is about cut in half or less ... I can't compare it with anything. This makes this great addon nearly useless. What a pity.

Very nice. 'Cept the DPS is very bugged. Reports about half as much as the actual number for all members (was comparing it to Recount from another player).

DPS isn't really for comparing. You *could* do that much DPS, but you aren't so it doesn't matter. What matters is damage done for last fight; If I can do 8K DPS but I just throw a moonfire on the boss and stop, I'm utterly useless. Overall meters and meters during trash don't mean anything (which is why I love Skada's "Only keep boss segments"; you should not be looting stuff when a boss is pulled). If you want to be topping the meters then you attack when the tank does and you learn to ride the threat cap until the tank puts up enough threat for you to go all-out and you don't stop mid fight. Unless you're testing something (such as a new pet, or on a target dummy), or are doing a specific job for raid mechanics, Damage/Healing done for last fight is the only meter that matters.

Question: I have Skada normally minimized to a data broker (Fortress). However, the window keeps popping up every time I zone in and out of anywhere, or enter any instance. Is there any way to disable the popping up automatically?

I've been looking to try this for some time. And wow it's good. Having the ability to switch into a Threatmeter when Combat starts, as well as having a brilliant system of switching between modes.

This is a very nice meter - Thank You

I was in a group last night with one other person. When the other person started, the meter would not pick him up until I started. Even with me standing next to him, he never get on the meter if I did not cast. We were using the test dummy.

Having some errors pop up whenever I send a report to raid on dps, not just while in the hodir fight but any time I post it in any location. Frankly, its getting annoying. I'll post up the error message if it happens again after today's update. Hopefully it fixes it. >.<
