Misspelled is a chat spell-checker addon. Misspelled watches the chat messages you type, highlighting any misspellings and offering suggestions for any misspelled words it finds.

I've included in the US & UK English dictionaries some Warcraft specific proper nouns, including the zone names, and all dungeon and raid boss names. Your friends and guild members are also automatically added, and shouldn't get flagged as misspelled words..Misspelled utilizes the HunSpell style, affix (prefix/suffix) compressed dictionaries. The same ones used in Chrome, Firefox, and OpenOffice. Misspelled provides suggestions based on words that phonetically sound like the misspelled word, along with providing suggestions based on common mistakes of spelling. While Misspelled can detect nearly the same number of individually correctly spelled words as OpenOffice, it's suggestion engine, is "somewhat" less complicated, than the HunSpell implementation.

Misspelled includes dictionaries for US-English, UK-English, French, German, Italian, Russian (experimental), and Spanish. The appropriate dictionary, for your game client locale, will auto-load, or you can manually choose what dictionary to use from Misspelled's Interface/Addons options page.

Misspelled works with WIM (Wow Instant Messenger), and is compatible with: Prat, Skinner, and Chatter.

Usage note: Spell Checking is performed as you complete each word you've typed. The last word in the chat box, isn't spell checked until you type some form of word terminator, either a period, space, or some other word separating punctuation. Spell checking is very fast; but isn't performed needlessly, while a word is being typed.

Misspelled is compatible with Wow, Wow Classic/Wrath/Cata If you are having problems with Misspelled, please try updating or disabling all other chat addons you may be running.

I have fixed the suggestion popup issue and dictionary editor errors.

I'm having difficulty updating the WowAce SVN repository due to the Twitch account change.

Hopefully moving things to Github will solve the issue.

Hi there, is this addon still being updated? The newest patch broke this (among other things). Oddly the dictionary still works, but the ability to right-click on a misspelled word then select a suggestion to replace it is gone.

If this isn't updated, thanks for all the hard work so far. This is a great addon.

I've made the needed updates to fix the suggestion selection issue and corrected an error on the dictionary editor UI.

Hopefully things will work well with patch 8.1

Seems this add on is now broken I've disabled everything with 8.1 when when an incorrect spelling pops up it allows you to click on it still though all the options for the correct words are greyed out :/ I use this add on quite a bit so I do hope it gets fixed! one can truly hope!

Having your same problem with this. The addon appears and detects incorrect spellings, but when you go and select the correct word from the list they are all greyed out and I can't click them.

As a foreign player on US servers this was a life saver for me, please come back to us Author!

This addon keeps preventing me from setting a focus, wtf. i r dum me need speelchek but also tank and need focus!

Looking at recent changes WIM added, they've now got some exclusions for when a player is detected in combat. I'll see if I can add the same to Misspelled.

This one is one of my favorites.

Hoping for an update soon.

The Addon is now working fine. The issue was likely on my end.

Please double check for addon conflicts etc..before disabling.

I wasn't actually getting any errors. it simply wasn't working at all so I disabled it thinking it had been broken in the pre-patch like so many others.

However. Thanks to your comment, I enabled the addon to check for any errors but oddly enough it seems to be working perfectly fine now after trying several 'misspells' in-game.

Perhaps it was conflicting with one of my other addons?

I know I'd mentioned this back in September about this potentially working with the Paste addon to be able to correct spelling mistakes in there, but after that first week, there wasn't any more news from you on this. Was curious if there was any success with this or not? Thanks!

Hi,

Lately the addon has been having issues or cause LUA errors. At first I was not sure what was causing the random errors so I down loaded swatter and sure enough it is Misspelled addon causing all of my random errors.

Updated for this would be great. Thank you for a great addon. I love it.
