Misspelled - Chat Spellchecker

Misspelled is a chat spell-checker addon. Misspelled watches the chat messages you type, highlighting any misspellings and offering suggestions for any misspelled words it finds.

I've included in the US & UK English dictionaries some Warcraft specific proper nouns, including the zone names, and all dungeon and raid boss names. Your friends and guild members are also automatically added, and shouldn't get flagged as misspelled words..Misspelled utilizes the HunSpell style, affix (prefix/suffix) compressed dictionaries. The same ones used in Chrome, Firefox, and OpenOffice. Misspelled provides suggestions based on words that phonetically sound like the misspelled word, along with providing suggestions based on common mistakes of spelling. While Misspelled can detect nearly the same number of individually correctly spelled words as OpenOffice, it's suggestion engine, is "somewhat" less complicated, than the HunSpell implementation.

Misspelled includes dictionaries for US-English, UK-English, French, German, Italian, Russian (experimental), and Spanish. The appropriate dictionary, for your game client locale, will auto-load, or you can manually choose what dictionary to use from Misspelled's Interface/Addons options page.

Misspelled works with WIM (Wow Instant Messenger), and is compatible with: Prat, Skinner, and Chatter.

Usage note: Spell Checking is performed as you complete each word you've typed. The last word in the chat box, isn't spell checked until you type some form of word terminator, either a period, space, or some other word separating punctuation. Spell checking is very fast; but isn't performed needlessly, while a word is being typed.

Misspelled is compatible with Wow, Wow Classic/Wrath/Cata If you are having problems with Misspelled, please try updating or disabling all other chat addons you may be running.

Hi there again i disabled all addons apart from misspelled and i wass able to login so i enabled all up to date addons and it crashed so just trying to figure out what addon it is if i do i will let you know thanks for the help

This would be awesome if it would scan guild chat for misspelled words and type the correctly spelled word with an astrix next to it, correcting someone =]

Hi amazin addon amazin idea, can you check it out though it says 8mb usage on my client.. could be some other addon messin misspelled but i turned all others off and the 8mb again..

Any applciation that uses a spellchecker will have similar memory usage. It's nothing to be concerned about., and won't reduce game performance.

Oh lordy, i can't thank you enough for this, being self taught in English I often find myself unable to spell certain words correctly, grammar nazis are also giving me hell from time to time! Thanks so much for this addon, dear! Hopefully you won't let it die. :)

By the way, the size doesn't scare me, but I do have this one question: do things get CPU intensive while using the chat? When not on vent - I often type in PuGs during fights etc.

The addon isn't very CPU intensive. Words are looked up, in the dictionary, after you hit space. The lookup happens very fast. If the word isn't found, it takes just a bit more to hunt and build a list of replacement suggestions. The app caches the last 10,000 misspelled words, so if you type the same sequence again, it doesn't have to work to calculate the list of suggested replacements.

Thank you for your response, I have been using it along with ElvUI for quite some time now, it 'seems' to be working fine with it. The only problem I have is that loading times(reload uI etc.)are longer now, and I also got a LUA error at some point and I remember seeing "Misspelled" in there, unfortunately I didn't save it. Any chance that is needs an update for 5.0.5? Once again - thank you and I really hope that you continue to support this addon.

Thankyou for this AddOn makes my RolePlay Adventures Quite Better since people can understand me now, Perhaps at somepoint you could implement a grammar checker as well.

Open the games Interface/addons dialog. You'll see Misspelled in the list. Click it, to show the addons options, on the right.
