HandyNotes
Handy Notes for your maps. This addon is intended to be a small and simple framework for showing notes on your map.
Use /handynotes to access options.
You can add notes to the maps in 3 ways:
- Alt-RightClick on the world map to add a note.
- Use "/hnnew" without the quotes to add a note at your current location.
- Use "/hnnew x,y" without the quotes to add a note at location x,y on your current zone's map.
HandyNotes supports plugins that other authors can write to display their own set of notes on the map. See this link for a list of such addons: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/search?search=handynotes

Posted Nov 17, 2014So, I have a question about removing points.
For example, I already got to 100, then installed the addon...
I have killed many things and looted many items already, I want to know how I can remove an object on the map. I think that each item, has an ID, and that you can find out through typing this in the chat (For example) to tell if you have already got an item:
/dump IsQuestFlaggedCompleted116887
how can I get rid of all the things I have already done, from HandyNotes.
Thanks so much

Posted Nov 17, 2014Still getting the "Astrolabe-1.0 instead of Astrolabe-0.4" error - although I updated to the latest version. (Tried both update via Curse client and direct download). Any ideas?

Posted Nov 17, 2014So, any idea how can I get this to work for cave maps? Ideally I'd like to add a rare sighting point like the SilverDragon add-on does in conjunction with this mod, but as it is currently, it fails to distinguish between overland and cavern mob location.

Posted Nov 18, 2014It works okay for me in ElvUI. It's quirky, but it works.
A few things that are buggy for me:
Are these some issues that you're having? Or will it simply not work at all?

Posted Nov 15, 2014Hi, is it possible to remove notes on the map?
Edit: Sorry, the ones I add I can remove. The HandyNotes_DraenorTreasures are the troublesome ones. I'll check with them.

Posted Nov 15, 2014I can't seem to get this to work. It may be a conflict with another addon but nothing is showing up for me. Installed both handynotes and handynotes_wod

Posted Nov 11, 2014Hi... "Ctrl+Shift+LeftDrag to move note" is not working for me, and it won't let me add a note to my location. Other thing, isn't it supposed to be Ctrl+Shift+LMB (Left Mouse Button) to move a note. I see some bugs, and some unnecessary and not very functional options (ex. the size of the markers). Not very polished, but it is integrated in wow in almost every aspects, the markers the interface all fine, but not perfect, 6/ 10. Thanks. A good example is PetTracker.

Posted Nov 2, 2014In the referenced .TOC file the ##Version line identifies the HandyNotes version as 1.2.0 although the .ZIP file which I downloaded is named HandyNotes-1.3.1.zip.
The result is that the Lua interpreter and !Swatter, respectively, identify the version as 1.2.0 in error dialogs, which you then regard as an error in the outdated version. For example, I already had version 1.3.0 installed and !Swatter reported an error, but identified the HandyNotes version as 1.2.0. So I downloaded and updated to 1.3.1, only to discover that I had already replaced 1.2.0.
(1) Edit your .TOC file to identify the HandyNotes version correctly.
(2) !Swatter reported the same error in HandyNotes 1.3.0 which FireEmerald has reported here previously. I expect it will pop the next time I access the Azeroth map to look at extant quests unless you have corrected it.

Posted Nov 2, 2014Do you have any plans to add the ability to delete notes or to edit them?
If I make a mistake when I create a note, the only way to get rid of it is to edit the HandyNotes file in the Saved Variables folder. That is not a good way to do such a thing, and editing that file to edit a note(s) that it contains is even less feasible.

Posted Nov 11, 2014If you right-click the note, there's an option to delete it. There's also a few more options there.

Posted Oct 28, 2014Just a question for anyone..... I was using Carbonite before pre-patch along with Handynotes. I'm not sure if it was Carbonite or Handynotes or what, but all the entrances to dungeons and raids and instances were designated on the map. Now with Carbonite gone, those notes are gone. Anyone know if there's a plugin or something that provides all that information? Thanks in advance!

Posted Oct 21, 2014How can I tie a notes visibility to a quest id? For example
[62103250] = {
["icon"] = 1,
["title"] = "Amethyl Crystal",
["cont"] = false,
["desc"] = "100 resources\n",
with quest id 34236

Posted Nov 2, 2014For what it is worth, I will take another look, but FYI, after WoW 6.0.2 was installed I visited Curse and downloaded, then installed, the "current version" of every addon that I use. Handy Notes v. 1.2.0 was, I believe, presented as compatible for WoW 6.0.2 but maybe it was the only one that had not been updated. It has not been a problem until now, with WoW 6.0.3.
