Elkano's BuffBars

EBB provides groups of (mainly) statusbar style indicators to show (de)buffs currently affecting your char or some other units (focus, pet and target). For the player, it can also show indicators for temporary enchants placed on their weapons.

For over 20 years, EBB has been a mainstay for both long-term and returning players (at least some) and reports of its death have been greatly exaggerated.

Two-in-One Download

For Classic WoW, the addon uses its older 2.x code base, for Mainline WoW (Retail and Forever) it is now based on Blizzard's AuraContainer; all in the same download file.

2.x based on UnitAura

Version 2.x was a total recode, initially based on the Ace2 framework, later ported to Ace3, which became necessary in order to support some of the longtime wanted and suggested features. It has served well for ~19 years (since June '07) and made it possible to show different groups of bars which can be configured in many ways. Each group can be assigned an individual look and filter settings. After setting up a group, its anchor can be hidden by alt-left clicking a bar or the anchor itself in order to lock the group in place.

Due to changes Blizzard made with WoW 4.x it's no longer possible to cancel buffs without the use of secure frames. EBB v2 thus limits cancelling of buffs to out-of-fight since using SecureAuraHeader would have required a major code restructuring. ~~This will be coming in a later version.~~

3.x based on AuraContainer

This is once again a complete artisanal rewrite, which became necessary due to Blizzard making auras secret in combat. This also gave me the push to include some features I already wanted but never included before. And you can cancel buffs in combat again.

Layouts can now be shared between groups, support multi-line/-column alignments, and give you way more options than before. But it can also just look the same as it used to.

What did suffer from the change of underlying technology are some of the filter options, as Blizzard has intentionally broken those.

And I haven't added localization to v3, yet. So most texts are in English besides a few strings reused from the game client.

Settings

The settings can be accessed via chat (/ebb), LDB icon, or simply via the game settings.

In order to get additional bar textures and fonts for EBB simply install e.g. SharedMedia which is available for download under https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/sharedmedia

Hi there, just a quick question for Death Knight "Presences", is there any way to display the active Presence/Aura as Buff-Bar?

If it would show in Blizzard's buffs it should also show in EBB. Other ways: No.

Hi, I may be being a total idiot, but the only bar I can see is my track humanoids bar when in cat. Combed through the options, made new bars, checked to see if it was on standby, and can't find a thing to make it work. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help!

Did you try to disable all other addons? if it will work then, it could be another addon messing things up.

Hello!
I was wondering if there is a way to change the bar timers for me to also show milliseconds as right now the lowest unit of time I have available are seconds. I have the latest version and can't seem to tinker with it to get it to show ms.

I used Elks Buff Bars since now for buffs and debuffs of the target too.
But since 3.0 the debuff list of targets in raids become so excessive that even at 1050px vertical space and a bar size of 10 the debuff list goes over the whole screen (from north to south). Is there a way to set a limit of shown buffs/debuffs? something like >30 buffs or so

Hey Elkano, I am a big fan of this mod, been using it for some time now. :) I've got a question for you. Since 3.02 I have had an issue where I have to manually add each buff or debuff to the appropriate slot. Is there a way to set it so that they are automatically added?

Seems like you somehow activated the whitelist filter. Uncheck everything in that filter and it should stop to apply that filter.

I am having a small problem with this addon.

If I set up "Track Low Level Quests" and then shift into Cat Form, it puts up Track Humanoids instead and I have to re-set Low Level Quests as an option. However, when I do this the buff still says "Track Humanoids" but the icon will change. This is mostly a minor annoyance and not anything game-breaking but I Thought I would report it nonetheless.

Hi,

I search how to show just my curses. i put in blacklist some debuff but if it's the same debuff but if it's the same debuff ? …

also can you improve white and black lists ? acctualy if i disconnect before check or uncheck some new spells they don't apear in the lists. this lists is unlikely maybe a frame with scroll bar and sorting can be a great idea :-)

Since my French is even worse than your English, I'll stick to the latter.

To only show the debuffs you put on the target do the following:
- create a new group
- set its target to TARGET
- set its type filter to DEBUFF only
- enable the selfcast filter

That way the group will only show bars for those debuffs you cast.

The white/blacklist is created on the fly as de/buffs are seen during a session. If you use the intended GUI via DewDrop the list should be sorted and scrollable, though.

I had used Elkano's Buff Bars since shortly after they released and several months ago, they broke for me. Rather than fixing the problem, I simply put up with Blizzard's buff frames for a while.

Now that 3.0 has come out and I am putting the finishing touches on my new UI, I'm trying to get them working again. The problem that I'm running into is that they are not saving any changes I make and so every group I set up disappears when I log in.

The settings do not seem to be saving properly - I tried deleting the files for EBB in the Saved Variables folder, but it didn't work. I have the latest version of the mod but I've been having the same problem since the release of patch 2.4.3.

Does anyone have any ideas that I might be able to use to resolve this issue or any other mods similar in look/functionality to EBB that I might replace it with?

You can't cancel forms that way since 3.x since that is now a protected function call.

Hey there.. I am a big fan of this mod.
But since patch 3 I havent been able to right-click-cancel my "Swift Flight Form" buff. :( Do you why that is, is it some setting I havent found yet?
Hope someone can help me, cause its REALLY annoying.

Love this addon, thank you! Great work making it! I am curious whether it can do 2 things... I looked around and couldn't figure out how:

1. The ability to use a different background color for timeless buffs (so say green for timeless and blue for timed).
2. The ability to disable text wrapping (especially for buff names). The reason is my buff text goes to topleft and time left goes bottomleft. I don't want the buff name to wrap and overlap with the time.

If it can do these two then it's perfect!

to 1: you'll have to create a new group and set the filters to only show timeless buffs. you can then anchor the other group to thatone.
to 2: it's not intended to wrap but to be shortend with "..." I'll have to check that out.
