Table of Contents

Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel

I'm not utterly sure this relates, but it may. When I link profs, quests etc to Trade or General, most people see jibberish. It looks normal to me and is clickable to me, but to others, it looks crazy. Any help is appreciated.

How do allow Chatter to remove channel names? $$EMPTY$$ doesn't work, and I don't need [Guild] to show that its guild chat. I can tell by just color. How do you remove those kinds of tags?

When I say anything, my name shows up twice, like:

[myname][myname]: hi!

If it's an option, I can't seem to find where it is to turn it off.

There is none, hover over the window and a button will show. Pressing this will create a frame from which you can copy.

I'd like a way to disable the scrolling buttons for one chat window, but not another. The way I see it right now is I can have scrolling buttons on all windows, or none at all. Same with the text fading.

Other than those two things... Great addon! Thank you for the time you've spent on it.

right click the tab General, click Unlock Frame. grab the general tab and drag it all around. you don't need a mod to do that though.

This is not a problem with Chatter, this is a problem with any addon adding something to the right-click menu causing taint issues. This is known by Blizzard but still not fixed. Not much to do about it. Just type: /focus :)

Just updated the Chatter addon via the Curse Updater before logging in (Chatter 1.1.1), and now it won't let me SET FOCUS. I disabled all addons except Chatter, and SET FOCUS worked again.

I can also confirm that Chatter seems to cause a problem somewhere with setting Focus. The default Blizz error popup usually blames it on something else (for me, it was Bagnon or AtlasLoot that was getting blamed), but disabling Chatter solved the problem.

Can you add a channel filter for the Highlight option? Carbonite uses several chat channels to pass information to other Carbonite users in your zone, including the names of the Toons, so it's constantly highlighting those messages, when I have the channels hidden.

I've been using this addon for a long time now, and until yesterday I noticed that Chatter can make sounds when something is written on any channel. This would be awesome and help me to get rid of ChatSounds, if only I could select custom sounds. I poked into the .lua and read something about LibShareMedia-3.0, wich I installed, but I can't see any other sound basides the default ones. Then came here, and read almost all the comments to see if there was a solution... some people have made the same question and never got an answer.

So, I'll ask again. Can someone please tell me how to add more sounds to chatter? Thanks in advance.

Ok, got SharedMedia working and now I can select more sounds. Now the problem is that Chatter doesn't recognize the [Party Leader] chat, so it doesn't make any sound when the party leader writes, wich can be very annoying. Adding this, and the ability to make a sound when the user writes to a channel (output sound) would make that part of chatter perfect. I'll stick to ChatSounds and disable the highlights module for now.
