Chatter

Table of Contents

Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel

Mine seems to be having the same issue. Not sure what's going on, but when you right click to set main the (pop-up) doesn't appear. Ingame any alt/main that I have set still work and show properly.

followed the post made by Soubhag and it worked for me;

Replace in function mod.GetMainName() from AltNames.lua line 134:

local alt = _G[UIDROPDOWNMENU_INIT_MENU].name

with

local alt = UIDROPDOWNMENU_INIT_MENU.name

Is Chatter causing my Quest log to be unlocked again after every restart of WoW or UI reload? Or is this a Blizzard bug? :-(

I've installed the mod, and am so far pretty happy with it. Unfortunately, there is some sort of issue linking items?

We have a channel setup for our healers in raid, and I linked an item into it. Everyone else in the channel reported that it just showed up as a bunch of numbers (I assume item ID).

I tried the same thing later on in a whisper to someone, same results.

Linking items/skills is something done fairly frequently, so this may end up forcing me to revert back to normal chat, or find another similar addon.

Any ideas??

Almost every third party chat program I have seen has this issue. Not sure if there is a workaround, besides having them use the same add-on. I know that prat had the same drawback.

First of all I would like to thank you for making this addon!
I would just like to know if there is any way to disable paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel? I have my main attack spells bound to scroll wheel with modifiers ofc, so I often find myself paging through the chat tabs like a maniac when raiding which can have a bad effect at critical times, so it would be great to be able to disable this.

Also I love the idea of being able to have visible chat tabs with chatter and be able to change the border and background textures. If you can add an option to do this, it would be close to perfect ;)

The internal Blizzard function seems to be buggy atm.

Awesome addon, and much appreciated. Is there a way to have Chatter -filter- chat messages? One of the most frustrating "features" that Blizzard added to the game is the appearance of PVP zone attacks in the WorldDefense channel. These areas are ALWAYS under attack on my server and it pretty much makes having the channel pointless because any other zone message is buried under a hundred PVP zone alerts. You included a way to add sound for a custom channel, and to add keywords to look for... it would be fantastic to be able to have chatter "filter" out and NOT play a sound any time it received a chat message with say, "Wintergrasp".

This is also happening to me. I've got the chatbox at the top of my screen, so I set edit box to bottom and it sets it, but as soon as I exit game and reload it is back at the top even though config shows bottom.

I noticed that in the Highlight options, you've included SCT support - could you also add MSBT support, since that's my ScrollingText of choice!

Is it possible to exclude some channels from scanning by Highlights ? I got some mods that still use some custum channels for communication and i don't need info through msbt that my name appeared in this channel :\

selection is only there for adding sound - I see no way to exclude channels from Highlight scan :\

Right click the chat frame tab General, click Settings, choose the Global Channels. You can hide messages from the specific channel with these checkboxes.
Would be nice to disable highlighting for unchecked channels. Or make it possible or something ...

Is it possible to make the whole chat window smaller since i have a HUD and everything on my screen is kinds misplaced so i wanted to shrink the box thanks.

How to add custom sounds into Highlight?
I saw it using LibShareMedia. But it looks i'm failed to break into it :/ or I have trouble with my soundcart.

Its not highlight? When ever someone speaks my name and it turns red and has > < on the sides? I thought Playernames just added the class color.

Sorry, I got your post wrong.
You could remove the module completely.
Edit modules.xml and comment or remove relevant module entry.
