Table of Contents

Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.

The only way I could get names to colour according to class was by right clicking the chat tab > Settings (not the chatter settings). Then I checked the check-boxes for each channel to enable Blizzard's class colouring option. Modifying the chatter settings for this seem to have no effect.

Reading into it i found that since patch 3.2, class coloring in most types of chat messages is handled by the default UI and not Addons and the most recent patch may have disabled it from addons being able to do it completely.

I may be wrong, just what I found looking around the internet. But I did turn on Blizzards option for class colors and it works with this addon.

I think the reason that the chat boxes will not stay in place is that there is now an invisible barrier around the entire edge of the screen. I reduced the size of my chat boxes so that (with Align active) they were at least half a square away from the any screen edge, and this seemed to stop the issue of them moving upon logout or reload. Not a perfect solution, but should tide us over until the author can fix it

I'm having the same issue as Surloyn. They are moving down and slightly to the right. Not much, but just enough to notice that they've moved, and throw off everything else.

Everything looks fine except the chat window will not move to the bottom of the screen at all. Can this not be fixed? This is a major issue....it's the reason I first ever used Chatter in the first place :(

Im not having all the edit box issues, can still move it around and lock in place, I have class colors and everything else... the only happening is that the frame locations reset on every relog. They do not reset when zoning, just if I log out and log back in...

When i mouseover an item in chat an window opens, how to disable that? The window is similar to the window that would appear when clicked an item.

it's called Link Hover, and its listed in the Chatter options. Just uncheck the box to disable it

hmm cannot see "Link Hover" option in the new version of chatter, only one close is "enable chat link", but doesnt do the trick.

A suggestion for future versions:

Now that the chat frame buttons may be more useful in the future, how about an option to scale those buttons (or create a smaller, minimalist option for the button set). My current UI hides them, but since the social button may become useful, it would be cool to have a smaller version of it that fits better into a minimalist UI.

ya you need to recheck, the box to get it to properly hook for right now and say the postioning.

Having troubles with my edit box since the patch.

I have it set to the top of my window but if I try to click on a different chat tab it instead opens up the edit box rather than changing tabs. No edit box polish settings seem to get rid of this ghost edit box that is always opened. Also it will not allow me to change the border type on this edit box.
