Cartographer 3.0

Table of Contents

This is a map addon for World of Warcraft that replaces the map and offers shiny features.

The idea is for it to work very much like Google Maps, only in-game.

Cartographer 3.0 is brand new, "experimental" version of Cartographer.

This is a good attempt at a good interface, however there are those of us that do enjoy the use and functionality of the previous version, I am not flaming i kinda like it..

But it would be good to be able to choose between the 2, unfortunately most wont bother to adapt to it and will just drop the mod, that's the hard truth,

Please consider a new Cartographer with the option for Classic view (2.2) or consider to continue the other as you have posted :)

Cartographer 2 was a very very nice addon, Cartographer 3 zoom funkction = crap :/ I like to see the full map and not a zoomed part of it, thats bad. Continue Cartographer 2, please.

Is anyone else having problems getting instance maps? Or isnt that feature in the update yet. I cant find them anywhere.

My Carto isnt showing any instances, neither if i zoom out. Is this a bug?

Need the old cartographer, no need a cartopraher3 like a navigation-system. The older cartographer was the best map-addon ever. :(

Why are we forced by you, ckknight, to upgrade with this google §$%& ?
Or is there an option in 3.0 to turn this off? Newer is not always better, as it is shown here -.-

You're not forced by anyone to do anything, Rusiak. Don't like ? Uninstall and move on. Nice and simple :)

Authors write things the way THEY want them, with sometimes a little tweaking to change things around with some suggestion from their users. Suck it up, or move on, mate :)

I cant get this to work at all...press m for map screen when its installed and nothing happens :(
yes ive checked where it has installed and that it is in the addons list but even after a 3rd try nothing. It must be clashing with another installed addon

I have just installed the new Cartographer 3.0 today for the first time and have to say it is absolutely amazing! It works just like Google Earth. Thanks ckknight!

Learn to use it or write your own mods this fourum isnt for bashing great mods. Keep up the great wor Ckknight I use quite a few of your newer mods and love every one of em!

anyone else having issues with options for this not opening? i get errors when i try to get to options. so far this has just been a hassle to use. hopefully either the bugs will get straightened out in this or the old version will be updated. i much preferred the way the maps were in the old on over the google style maps this version uses

Brilliant! Curse client is keeping all your modifications to this mod up to date and when i logged on today, Ive been exploring all continents and just luv the ability to zoom in, select any part of the world map to see what i need to reveal with the unexplored areas colours changed, and luv the POI's and city overlays no matter what faction.

Youve done a great job ckknight and when players actually have the latest version and take a little time to check it out properly, they will luv this version more than the previous one.

I fully understand and appreciate the work that's probably been put into this but its just not for me, i'll never learn to work with it and imo it's just annoying.

Is there any chance you'll still be updating the previous version of cartographer or can you suggest any other map mod similar to the older versions that i could try?

the new addon sucks they have ruined it, it needs to have one like the old one and one like the new one so people are happy what is wrong with that it just makes life eaiser for people that dont want to spen the time to figure out the new one.

I do like this new version of Cartographer... which I don't really understand is the experimental thing. Why now? I mean if you wanted to release a new thing, I think you should do it with the old cartographer working and not leaping to another version. Pretty much like Auctioneer and Auctioneer Advanced

Odds are, it was a lot easier to write this new one, than it was to fix the old one, which is quite often the case after a major change in the "host" application...
