Broker_TolBarad

About Broker_TolBarad

Broker_TolBarad shows who controls Tol Barad and the time until the next battle. During the battle it shows the time since the battle started. There are no messages sent between players. The function updating the time and faction requires that you are not in an instance.

You have the option to:

show / hide the seconds from the Broker text. By default seconds are hidden and will only show during the last minute.
choose whom to notice before the battle starts (self, guild, party, raid).
choose when to notice (battle start, 5min before, 15 min before, 30 min before).
use audio warning.

You can also get information related to the next battle by using Shift-Click on the time while the chat edit box is opened.

In order to use it you need a broker display addon like ButtonBin or Titan Panel.

yes both are there... I even have load out of date addons checked

is there a command I can type to bring it to the center of my screen and move it from there?

Not sure... you should dig through the settings of ButtonBin. But by default I know it creates 3 bars (left, right, center) at the top of the screen where it displays data.

ok so I have titan panel and it doesnt put things on the bar by default (and I didnt realize it was a broker display or whatever lol) and when I downloaded ButtonBin, Titan Panel covers it up.

I now have it shown on Titan Panel and have deleted ButtonBin :)

Patch 4.0.6 includes (http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/01/13/patch-4-0-6-ptr-notes-updated-for-jan-12/):

Players can now see the status of Tol Barad on the World Map no matter where they are. The time to the next battle is displayed by zooming into the Tol Barad section of the map. The current controlling faction can be seen on the Eastern Kingdoms map.

Hopefully this will allow you the ability to display the controlling faction without having to visit Tol Barad manually.

Would it be possible to add a feature where it sends a message to another character when the queue pops?
For example, say I'm playing 2 characters and one gets in but the other is still in the queue. It would be great if I get a message on the one in TB that the queue has popped on the other character, so I know to switch over and accept the port before the timer ends. It's very easy to miss the timer in the heat of battle.

really useless... you need to be outside an instance and you need to be in tb to update the faction?
LOL, so I can check myself... I wanna see the timer when I'm on alt below 85 leveling or when I'm in dungeons or raid... if I only need to press H, why should I install an addon?
you should see WinterTime and learn from it, it was a really well made addon...

many of the players that i know would love to see more features in your addon.. 1 thing they would love is a 10min warning for TB and also who is attacking or defending in the announcement

There is a problem with the factions: the game's functions which return that only work if your character is in Tol Barad. The only way to find out which faction is attacking, outside Tol Barad area, is to pass messages between players that use this addon, which I wanted to avoid.

As for the 10 min warning I don't see it's use. If you are 100% sure you want to join you will queue at 15 min; otherwise you can get a warning at 5 minutes which should be enough time for you to queue.

Can you actually make this addon announce when Tol Barad is about to be won? That way we can run across the bridge. Thanks in advance!

As a stopgap, you can permanently kill the sound by editing the lua files. In the file "Broker_TolBarad.lua", go to line 425. It reads:

PlaySoundFile("Interface\\AddOns\\Broker_TolBarad\\Media\\brass_fanfare_4.mp3");

Comment it out by adding two dashes at the start, so it reads like so:

--PlaySoundFile("Interface\\AddOns\\Broker_TolBarad\\Media\\brass_fanfare_4.mp3");

the timer seems to start from 2h 30min and send the announcement for fight starting if you reload ui (or log in) inside an instance.
fix possible?
