ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Just tested this out and I was able to successfully summon my hearthsteed and swift purple wind rider as ground mounts on a level 20 character. Thanks for the update!
open arkinventory.lua under the savedvariables folder in something like notepad++ (if you set the language to lua then it allows you to collapse the table in sections)
find ARKINVDB [global] [player] [data] [toon/guild name] [location] and delete the entire location table, including the [location] tag itself (you need to do this for each toon/guild)
it will now contain just the setup without any item data, save it and keep a backup of it somewhere safe
Since the last update I have been having trouble with this addon causing an Error #134 on my WoW logins. I have traced it down to this addon alone as it happens when I have this addon alone set to load up and am still getting the error. I have also traced it to my current setup as if I delete my current LUA and then reload a backup it works for the first time that I login. If I then log out and try to login again I will error out again.
What I think I am really trying to get at is their any way of saving the categories and setups that I use for my bag configurations?
I run 12 different configurations. 1 for each class and 1 for my Bank toons. Setting up all of these configs is very time consuming and tedious and I have done so in the past and really do not want to do so again manually if I do not have to do so. I cannot just keep reloading a back up as it only works for that one session of play. Any help would be greatly appreciated. FG34
This is a really good addon in my limited experience with it. It has a bit of a learning curve and took me an hour or so to get a feel for everything, but it's turning out quite nice. Is there a forum somewhere to discuss the addon?
I have encountered one little issue that I'm having with a particular item that I can't get to match a rule that, as far as I can tell, it should match. The item is: Faded Wizard Hat. The debug thing says that it is type armor and subtype miscellaneous. So I created a rule: type("armor") and subtype("miscellaneous") but the item is still being matched to system > equippable items (soulbound). I'm basically trying to set up a bar that will hold only my hunter usable gear. It currently shows anything that is leather with agility on it and any guns or bows. I want the other gear to be in a different bar so I can more easily see what to auction and what to hold onto. This particular item is a vanity item that I would like to have in the hunter gear bar because I want to keep it. The miscellaneous rule is matching a ring that I have, so it seems to work, but it won't match that hat. For now I'll just assign it to some other category and put that in there, but I'm curious as to why it's not working the way I think it should work. If anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it. TIA
EDIT: Created a custom category "vanity" and put the hat and other neat or cool looking items in that category in their own bar. Still curious why the rule for that hat won't work though. I couldn't even get it to work with equip head.
go into edit mode, click on the item, click on the default category, that should reset it if it was set to use that specific system category.
if you assign a system (or custom) category to an item it has a higher priority than a rule trying to find it. thats usually the reason why rules dont pick up specific items
new beta version is up, please make sure you backup your savedvariables before you install it
I just wanted to pop in and say that ArkInventory was one of the addons in wow I could not live without back in BC/WotLK. You are awesome. I wish i had an inventory addon that was even half as good in Wildstar. <3
That's all. You can carry on being awesome now. *tips his hat*
Yo, i love this addon and have used it for some years now :p
Lately ive had a problem when i make a new charecter the items in my bagpack wont show, it just shows that my bags are embty, its only when i make a new char the ones ive had for some time i dont got that problmem.
And one more question :p
Why is it that i cant use the search function in my chars bagpacks? it works when im in my bank
Do you guys know if there is a way to assign two different item categories to two copies of the same piece of gear? like an option for marking them as two separate items? that would immensely help me to keep my gear sets distinct!
Corrupted too =S
The config/settings are reset in today patch?
not by design they arent, but its a patch so its possible they can get corrupted.
always have backups - the wow client creates one automatically so you can check under your SavedVariables folder for the arkinventory one and see if the backup in there is usable (rename the files around so that the .lua.bak becomes .lua)
worse case you may go back a bit but if you have no other backups then its better than nothing
Just wanted to say that I absolutely adore this addon and am really grateful to the author for maintaining it. It's definately an absolutely essential part of my WoW play that I couldn't be without.
Fantastic work!
Hello. Great addon, and thanks for maintaining it.
I love the mount feature where I can select random mounts based on the configuration. I understand there is a keybinding, but I'm also looking for a /macro to do the same thing. Is that possible? Sorry if I've missed the feature in the docs - can't seem to find it.
Thanks!
/run ArkInventory.LDB.Mounts:OnClick( )
just remember to include the appropriate /cancelform for your class, if required, beforehand
Is there any particular reason the latest update has completely wiped my settings? Extremely tempted to just get rid seeing as it took so long to setup to my preference and there's no way to load your previous config.
Answer? I lost my bag division, rules, custom categories, everything.
do people seriously think i write code to deliberately wipe your data?
any crash or issue with shutting down wow can kill your saved variable files - which is why youre supposed to back them up every now and then (its not like you make a lot of changes so you dont have to do it every day)
alternatively if you cant be bothered, check the saved variabels directory for the addon and rename the autobackup that wow does from .bak to .lua to see if that gives you enough settings back
next time make your own backups so you dont have to worry about things like this
You know that the addon is for free right? If you not like it why dont you just make your own addon ainstead of yelling att ppl that dedicate their sparetime to make great addons to all of us that want something extra other then the original UI.
Getting really pissed by ppl like you..
Love the addon but since I've been using it (many years) the Guild Bank config continues to randomly reset.
Specifically: I choose to not Override the guild bank view but every once in a while it simply rechecks the Override feature and I have to go back into the options to change it back. Any idea why this happens?
