ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
I second this notion!
I'm done with this addon after having it for years. I hope someone who can do a better job comes along and makes a better one. I just spent TWO HOURS trying to get the custom slots to unlock, I tried EVERYTHING here. NOTHING !!!!!!!
Bank still not works after the last Update :(
So after the recent update if I have no data am I just to assume that its gone? All my custom categories are there but nothing is sorting properly still. None of my items appear to be flagging correctly even though all my bars are categorized etc.
Oh and I still cannot view banks or mail.
you backed up your data yes? theres another fix coming in .13 that should fix the last lot of assignment issues (i hope)
My current AI installation is .12 and I can see my custom categories and all my virtual bars are set up properly but all my items have gone back to their default sorting category.
I'm getting this error message when logging in. It worked fine earlier today, but now I can't open mailbox or traders.

thats an old 3.04.20 profile, i'll update the code to fix it, you may want to swap to another profile and reload
All my edits are locked. I've done the changing off of default settings and all that I've seen in the comments here but it doesn't work everything is still locked. I've deleted the defaults and still nothing.
you'e better off getting another addon.
check the wiki, look for blueprint
Any recommendations? :P
Been trying what is explained on the top but nothing works cause since the last update this is what I got.

Hello,
My items keep being sorted under a now deleted category!
To explain:
I've made the bags work with the new version and got the new 1001 categories set up as mentioned in helpful comments here.
However I now deleted an old category that was called "Greens", wanting to make a new more specific rule to sort it into Plate or Cloth etc. so I could more easily sort the hundreds of greens I've been keeping on my bank-alt.
The items are still being sorted under the deleted rule... --> Current: **Deleted Category [3!64]** and also specifying that the default for this item is "System > [0414] Equippable Items".
Tried reloading.
Tried deleting the category 3!64 from the .lua, and it's reference [2]category.
Reverted back to the original .lua
Made the new rule assigned as an order 1 rule to see if that helped,
All my greens are still just sitting in the default bar, not willing to move anywhere. :(
Anyone able to help?
Found that new made categories doesn't sort anything to them. And that there's an open bug report on your github for it.. Will try to be patient then, i guess.
sorry, missed that, it should only continue to put the deleted category on the bar up until you purge it, then it should clear the category completely, ill get it fixed for .13
you can also just click on the default category to manually reset it
enable edit mode and go back to the bar assignment, make sure that the category is enabled
So after updating to 3.06.12 and restoring a pre prepatch .lua file everything is 100%
ie : i had made a copy of \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAMEORNUMBER\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua file before pre patch day
I copied it back after installing the update.
all is good across all my toons and i use a few diff profiles and many custom settings
Thanks Arkayenro
The tooltip when I hover on the amount of gold at the bottom right corner of my bags does not display the correct amounts for the characters. They have thousands of gold but the tooltip shows them having a few silver.
I have done a clean install of the addon today, deleting the previously saved variables.
Edit: I've done some digging in the code and this may be useful:
Function ArkInventory.MoneyText in ArkInventoryMoney.lua.
Line 419 sets the money local. If I replace it with
then the tooltip shows correctly as 999g 99s 99c. If I add one more:
then the tooltip shows 0g 00s 00c (which is wrong).
i cant duplicate it so it could be a locale issue, what language is your game set to?
i've also rearranged the moneytext code slightly, not sure if it will help or not. i tested up to 100 million gold, so 1000000000000 copper and it was fine at each level
